The Chronicle of Geoffrey le Baker of Swinbroke. Baker was a secular clerk from Swinbroke, now Swinbrook, an Oxfordshire village two miles east of Burford. His Chronicle describes the events of the period 1303-1356: Gaveston, Bannockburn, Boroughbridge, the murder of King Edward II, the Scottish Wars, Sluys, Crécy, the Black Death, Winchelsea and Poitiers. To quote Herbert Bruce 'it possesses a vigorous and characteristic style, and its value for particular events between 1303 and 1356 has been recognised by its editor and by subsequent writers'. The book provides remarkable detail about the events it describes. Baker's text has been augmented with hundreds of notes, including extracts from other contemporary chronicles, such as the Annales Londonienses, Annales Paulini, Murimuth, Lanercost, Avesbury, Guisborough and Froissart to enrich the reader's understanding. The translation takes as its source the 'Chronicon Galfridi le Baker de Swynebroke' published in 1889, edited by Edward Maunde Thompson. Available at Amazon in eBook and Paperback.

On or before 7th February 1690 [his father] William Morice 1st Baronet (age 62) died. He was buried at Werrington, Devon on 7th February 1690. His son Nicholas (age 9) succeeded 2nd Baronet Morice of Werrington in Devon.
On 14th April 1698 Nicholas Morice 2nd Baronet (age 17) matriculated Exeter College, Oxford University.
In 1702 Nicholas Morice 2nd Baronet (age 21) was elected MP Newport, and re-elected in 1705, 1708, 1710, 1713, 1715 and 1722.
On or after 21st March 1704, the date of the licence, Nicholas Morice 2nd Baronet (age 23) and Catherine Herbert Lady Morice were married at St James' Church, Piccadilly. She by marriage Lady Morice of Werrington in Devon. They has one sons and two daughters. She the daughter of Thomas Herbert 8th Earl Pembroke 5th Earl Montgomery (age 48) and Margaret Sawyer Countess Pembroke and Montgomery.
Around 1707 [his son] William Morice 3rd Baronet was born to Nicholas Morice 2nd Baronet (age 26) and [his wife] Catherine Herbert Lady Morice.
On or before 18th September 1716 [his wife] Catherine Herbert Lady Morice died. She was buried at Werrington, Devon on 18th September 1716.

On 3rd October 1725 [his son-in-law] John St Aubyn 3rd Baronet (age 29) and [his daughter] Catherine Morice Lady St Aubyn were married at St James' Church, Piccadilly. She brough £10,000 cash to the marriage, and the manor of Stoke-Damerel, including Devonport.
On 27th January 1726 Nicholas Morice 2nd Baronet (age 45) died. He was buried at Werrington, Devon on 7th February 1726 . His son [his son] William (age 19) succeeded 3rd Baronet Morice of Werrington in Devon.
[his daughter] Barbara Morice Lady Molesworth was born to Nicholas Morice 2nd Baronet and Catherine Herbert Lady Morice.
[his daughter] Catherine Morice Lady St Aubyn was born to Nicholas Morice 2nd Baronet and Catherine Herbert Lady Morice.
