The Chronicle of Geoffrey le Baker of Swinbroke. Baker was a secular clerk from Swinbroke, now Swinbrook, an Oxfordshire village two miles east of Burford. His Chronicle describes the events of the period 1303-1356: Gaveston, Bannockburn, Boroughbridge, the murder of King Edward II, the Scottish Wars, Sluys, Crécy, the Black Death, Winchelsea and Poitiers. To quote Herbert Bruce 'it possesses a vigorous and characteristic style, and its value for particular events between 1303 and 1356 has been recognised by its editor and by subsequent writers'. The book provides remarkable detail about the events it describes. Baker's text has been augmented with hundreds of notes, including extracts from other contemporary chronicles, such as the Annales Londonienses, Annales Paulini, Murimuth, Lanercost, Avesbury, Guisborough and Froissart to enrich the reader's understanding. The translation takes as its source the 'Chronicon Galfridi le Baker de Swynebroke' published in 1889, edited by Edward Maunde Thompson. Available at Amazon in eBook and Paperback.

On 28th May 1783 [his father] Edward Pellew 1st Viscount Exmouth (age 26) and [his mother] Susan Frowde Viscountess Exmouth (age 27) were married.
On 1st July 1786 Pownoll Bastard Pellew 2nd Viscount Exmouth was born to Edward Pellew 1st Viscount Exmouth (age 29) and Susan Frowde Viscountess Exmouth (age 30).
On 1st October 1808 Pownoll Bastard Pellew 2nd Viscount Exmouth (age 22) and Eliza Harriet Barlow were married. They had two sons and one daughter.
On 14th February 1811 [his son] Edward Pellew 3rd Viscount Exmouth was born to Pownoll Bastard Pellew 2nd Viscount Exmouth (age 24) and [his wife] Eliza Harriet Barlow.
In 1820 Pownoll Bastard Pellew 2nd Viscount Exmouth (age 33) and Eliza Harriet Barlow were divorced.
On 15th April 1822 Pownoll Bastard Pellew 2nd Viscount Exmouth (age 35) and Georgiana Janet Dick Viscountess Pellew (age 22) were married.
On 6th November 1830 [his son] Fleetwood John Pellew was born to Pownoll Bastard Pellew 2nd Viscount Exmouth (age 44) and [his wife] Georgiana Janet Dick Viscountess Pellew (age 30).
On 23rd January 1833 [his father] Edward Pellew 1st Viscount Exmouth (age 75) died. He was buried at St James the Apostle Church, Christow. His son Pownoll (age 46) succeeded 2nd Viscount Exmouth, 2nd Baron Exmouth of Canonteign, 2nd Baronet Pellew of Treverry in Cornwall. He died in December of the same year. [his wife] Georgiana Janet Dick Viscountess Pellew (age 33) by marriage Viscountess Exmouth.
On 3rd December 1833 Pownoll Bastard Pellew 2nd Viscount Exmouth (age 47) died. His son [his son] Edward (age 22) succeeded 3rd Viscount Exmouth, 3rd Baron Exmouth of Canonteign, 3rd Baronet Pellew of Treverry in Cornwall.
On 15th February 1870 [his former wife] Georgiana Janet Dick Viscountess Pellew (age 70) died.
