Biography of Richard J C Atkinson 1920-1994

Richard J C Atkinson 1920-1994 is in Archaeologists.

On 22nd January 1920 Richard J C Atkinson was born.

From 1968 to 1970 Richard J C Atkinson (age 47) undertook excavations at Silbury Hill [Map] that were filmed by the BBC. He dug numerous trenches at the site and reopened the 1849 tunnel, where he found material suggesting a Neolithic date. His carbon dates are considered unrealiable.

On 10th October 1994 Richard J C Atkinson (age 74) died.
