Biography of Robert Kemp 3rd Baronet 1667-1734

Paternal Family Tree: Kemp

On 15th July 1650 [his father] Robert Kemp 2nd Baronet (age 22) and Mary Kerridge Lady Kemp were married at St Bartholomew the Less. She by marriage Lady Kemp of Gissing in Norfolk.

On 20th November 1657 [his father] Robert Kemp 2nd Baronet (age 29) and [his mother] Mary Sone Lady Kemp were married. She by marriage Lady Kemp of Gissing in Norfolk.

Before 25th June 1667 Robert Kemp 3rd Baronet was born to Robert Kemp 2nd Baronet (age 39) and Mary Sone Lady Kemp at Ubbeston, Suffolk. He was baptised at St Peter's Church, Ubbeston on 25th June 1667.

On 23rd May 1685 Robert Kemp 3rd Baronet (age 17) was admitted to St Catharine's College, Cambridge University.

After 23rd May 1685 Robert Kemp 3rd Baronet (age 17) and Letitia King were married.

On 29th July 1705 [his mother] Mary Sone Lady Kemp died at Ubbeston, Suffolk. She was buried at St Mary's Church, Gissing.

On 29th January 1708 [his son] Benjamin Kemp 7th Baronet was born to Robert Kemp 3rd Baronet (age 40) and [his wife] Elizabeth Brand.

The Chronicle of Geoffrey le Baker of Swinbroke. Baker was a secular clerk from Swinbroke, now Swinbrook, an Oxfordshire village two miles east of Burford. His Chronicle describes the events of the period 1303-1356: Gaveston, Bannockburn, Boroughbridge, the murder of King Edward II, the Scottish Wars, Sluys, Crécy, the Black Death, Winchelsea and Poitiers. To quote Herbert Bruce 'it possesses a vigorous and characteristic style, and its value for particular events between 1303 and 1356 has been recognised by its editor and by subsequent writers'. The book provides remarkable detail about the events it describes. Baker's text has been augmented with hundreds of notes, including extracts from other contemporary chronicles, such as the Annales Londonienses, Annales Paulini, Murimuth, Lanercost, Avesbury, Guisborough and Froissart to enrich the reader's understanding. The translation takes as its source the 'Chronicon Galfridi le Baker de Swynebroke' published in 1889, edited by Edward Maunde Thompson. Available at Amazon in eBook and Paperback.

On 27th November 1712 [his son-in-law] Edmund Bacon 6th Baronet (age 32) and [his daughter] Mary Kemp Lady Bacon (age 19) were married at Ubbeston, Suffolk. She by marriage Lady Bacon of Redgrave in Suffolk. They had five daughters.

In 1727 [his wife] Martha Blackwell Lady Kemp died.

In 1727 [his daughter] Mary Kemp Lady Bacon (age 33) died.

On 9th July 1728 Robert Kemp 3rd Baronet (age 61) and Amy Phillips Lady Kemp were married. She by marriage Lady Kemp of Gissing in Norfolk. There was no issue from the marriage.

On 18th December 1734 Robert Kemp 3rd Baronet (age 67) died at Ufford, Suffolk. His son [his son] Robert (age 35) succeeded 4th Baronet Kemp of Gissing in Norfolk.

In 1745 [his former wife] Amy Phillips Lady Kemp died.
