Biography of Robert Salusbury 1st Baronet 1756-1817

Paternal Family Tree: Salusbury

Before 10th September 1756 [his father] Robert Salusbury (age 33) and [his mother] Gwenilian Davis were married.

On 10th September 1756 Robert Salusbury 1st Baronet was born to Robert Salusbury (age 33) and Gwenilian Davis.

In 1774 [his father] Robert Salusbury (age 51) died. Memorial at St Marcella's Church, Denbigh [Map].

Robert Salusbury: Around 1723 he was born to Norfolk Salusbury. Before 10th September 1756 Robert Salusbury and Gwenilian Davis were married.

On 16th May 1780 Robert Salusbury 1st Baronet (age 23) and Catherine Vanne of Llanwern were married. They had three sons and two daughters.

On 18th May 1783 [his son] Thomas Robert Salusbury 2nd Baronet was born to Robert Salusbury 1st Baronet (age 26) and [his wife] Catherine Vanne of Llanwern.

In 1789 [his mother] Gwenilian Davis died. Memorial at St Marcella's Church, Denbigh [Map].

Gwenilian Davis: she was born to Ellis Davis of Nantyrerwheidd in Merionethshire.

On 7th February 1792 [his son] Charles John Salusbury 3rd Baronet was born to Robert Salusbury 1st Baronet (age 35) and [his wife] Catherine Vanne of Llanwern.

On 16th August 1792 Robert Salusbury 1st Baronet (age 35) was elected MP Monmouthshire which seat he held until 1796.

The London Gazette 13768. Whitehall, April 11 [1795]. The King has been pleased to grant the Dignity of a Baronet of the Kingdom of Great Britain to the following Gentlemen, and the respective Heirs Male of their Bodies lawfully begotten, viz.

Sir George Chetwynd (age 56) of Brocton Hall in the County of Stafford, Knt.

Sir John Dryden (age 42), of Canons Ashby in the County of Northampton, Knt.

Robert Salusbury (age 38), of Llanwern in the County of Monmouth, Esq;

Richard Gamon, of Minchenden House in the County of Middlesex, Esq; with Remainder to Richard Grace, of Rahin in the Queen's County and Kingdom of Ireland, Esq; and his Issue Male.

Lionel Darell, of Richmond Hill in the County of Surry, Esq;

Richard Neave, of Dognam Park in the County Essex, Esq;

Henry Hawley (age 49), of Leybourne Grange in the County of Kent, Esq;

John Pollen, of Redenham in the County of Southampton, Esq;

On 2nd November 1796 Robert Salusbury 1st Baronet (age 40) was elected MP Brecon which seat he held until 1812.

On 17th November 1817 Robert Salusbury 1st Baronet (age 61) died at Canterbury, Kent [Map]. His son [his son] Thomas (age 34) succeeded 2nd Baronet Salusbury of Llanwern in Monmouthshire.
