The Chronicle of Geoffrey le Baker of Swinbroke. Baker was a secular clerk from Swinbroke, now Swinbrook, an Oxfordshire village two miles east of Burford. His Chronicle describes the events of the period 1303-1356: Gaveston, Bannockburn, Boroughbridge, the murder of King Edward II, the Scottish Wars, Sluys, Crécy, the Black Death, Winchelsea and Poitiers. To quote Herbert Bruce 'it possesses a vigorous and characteristic style, and its value for particular events between 1303 and 1356 has been recognised by its editor and by subsequent writers'. The book provides remarkable detail about the events it describes. Baker's text has been augmented with hundreds of notes, including extracts from other contemporary chronicles, such as the Annales Londonienses, Annales Paulini, Murimuth, Lanercost, Avesbury, Guisborough and Froissart to enrich the reader's understanding. The translation takes as its source the 'Chronicon Galfridi le Baker de Swynebroke' published in 1889, edited by Edward Maunde Thompson. Available at Amazon in eBook and Paperback.

In 1575 William Parker 4th Baron Monteagle 14th Baron Marshal 13th Baron Morley was born to Henry or Edward Parker 13th Baron Marshal 12th Baron Morley (age 25) and Elizabeth Stanley Baroness Marshal Morley (age 16).
On 10th November 1581 [his grandfather] William Stanley 3rd Baron Monteagle (age 53) died. His grandson William (age 6) succeeded 4th Baron Monteagle.
On 12th June 1585 [his mother] Elizabeth Stanley Baroness Marshal Morley (age 27) died.
Before 6th January 1593 William Parker 4th Baron Monteagle 14th Baron Marshal 13th Baron Morley (age 18) and Elizabeth Tresham were married. He by marriage Baron Monteagle. They were fifth cousins.
Around 1597 [his daughter] Catherine Parker was born to William Parker 4th Baron Monteagle 14th Baron Marshal 13th Baron Morley (age 22) and [his wife] Elizabeth Tresham.

Around 1600 [his son] Henry Parker 15th Baron Marshal 14th Baron Morley 5th Baron Monteagle was born to William Parker 4th Baron Monteagle 14th Baron Marshal 13th Baron Morley (age 25) and [his wife] Elizabeth Tresham.
On 26th October 1605 William Parker 4th Baron Monteagle 14th Baron Marshal 13th Baron Morley (age 30) received a letter warning of the Gunpowder Plot and showed it to Robert Cecil 1st Earl Salisbury (age 42) who then showed it to the King at Hoxton.
On 4th November 1605 William Parker 4th Baron Monteagle 14th Baron Marshal 13th Baron Morley (age 30) searched the basement with Thomas Howard 1st Earl Suffolk (age 44) and discovered the gunpowder and explosives at Westminster Palace [Map].
After 4th November 1605 William Parker 4th Baron Monteagle 14th Baron Marshal 13th Baron Morley (age 30) rewarded with 500 pounds and 200 pounds' worth of lands.

On 1st July 1622 William Parker 4th Baron Monteagle 14th Baron Marshal 13th Baron Morley (age 47) died at Great Hallingbury, Essex. His son [his son] Henry (age 22) succeeded 15th Baron Marshal, 14th Baron Morley, 5th Baron Monteagle.
