There have been three creations of Baron Wenlock:

1st. 29th March 1461. John Wenlock 1st Baron Wenlock 1400-1471. Extinct. 4th May 1471. 4th May 1471 Battle of Tewkesbury.

2nd. 1831. Robert Lawley 1st Baron Wenlock 1768-1834. Extinct. 10th April 1834.

3rd. 1839. Paul Thompson 1st Baron Wenlock 1784-1852. Extinct. 14th June 1932.

After 29th March 1461 John Wenlock 1st Baron Wenlock (age 61) was created 1st Baron Wenlock.

After 3rd July 1461 John Wenlock 1st Baron Wenlock (age 61) and Agnes Danvers Baroness Wenlock (age 53) were married. She by marriage Baroness Wenlock.

In 1467 John Wenlock 1st Baron Wenlock (age 67) and Agnes Say Baroness Wenlock were married. She by marriage Baroness Wenlock.

On 4th May 1471 King Edward IV of England (age 29) was victorious at the 4th May 1471 Battle of Tewkesbury. His brother Richard (age 18), Richard Beauchamp 2nd Baron Beauchamp Powick (age 36), John Howard 1st Duke of Norfolk (age 46), George Neville 4th and 2nd Baron Abergavenny (age 31), John Savage (age 49), John Savage (age 27), Thomas St Leger (age 31), John Tuchet 6th Baron Audley, 3rd Baron Tuchet (age 45), Thomas Burgh 1st Baron Burgh of Gainsborough (age 40) fought. William Brandon (age 46), George Browne (age 31), Ralph Hastings, Richard Hastings Baron Willoughby (age 38), James Tyrrell (age 16), Roger Kynaston of Myddle and Hordley (age 38) were knighted. William Hastings 1st Baron Hastings (age 40) commanded.

Margaret of Anjou (age 41) was captured. Her son Edward of Westminster Prince of Wales (age 17) was killed. He was the last of the Lancastrian line excluding the illegitmate Charles Somerset 1st Earl of Worcester (age 11) whose line continues to the present.

John Courtenay 7th or 15th Earl Devon (age 36) was killed and attainted. Earl Devon forfeit. Some sources refer to these titles as being abeyant?

John Wenlock 1st Baron Wenlock (age 71) was killed. Baron Wenlock extinct.

John Delves (age 49), John Beaufort (age 30), William Vaux of Harrowden (age 35) and Robert Whittingham (age 42) were killed.

Edmund Beaufort (age 32), Humphrey Tuchet (age 37) and Hugh Courtenay (age 44) were captured.

Henry Roos fought and escaped to Tewkesbury Abbey [Map] where he sought sanctuary. He was subsequently pardoned.

William Carey (age 34) was killed.

On 14th June 1931 Algernon Lawley 5th Baron Wenlock (age 74) died. His brother Arthur (age 70) succeeded 6th Baron Wenlock of Wenlock in Shropshire, 13th Baronet Lawley of Spoonhill in Shropshire which titles he enjoyed for a year dying a year later on the same day as his brother. Annie Allen Cunard Baroness Wenlock (age 68) by marriage Baroness Wenlock.

On 10th April 1834 Robert Lawley 1st Baron Wenlock (age 66) died. Baron Wenlock of Wenlock in Shropshire extinct. His brother Francis (age 52) succeeded 7th Baronet Lawley of Spoonhill in Shropshire.

On 9th May 1852 Paul Thompson 1st Baron Wenlock (age 67) died in Florence. His son Beilby (age 34) succeeded 2nd Baron Wenlock of Wenlock in Shropshire, 9th Baronet Lawley of Spoonhill in Shropshire. Elizabeth Grosvenor Baroness Wenlock (age 27) by marriage Baroness Wenlock of Wenlock in Shropshire.

On 6th November 1880 Beilby Lawley 2nd Baron Wenlock (age 62) died. His son Beilby (age 31) succeeded 3rd Baron Wenlock of Wenlock in Shropshire, 10th Baronet Lawley of Spoonhill in Shropshire. Constance Mary Lascelles Baroness Wenlock (age 28) by marriage Baroness Wenlock of Wenlock in Shropshire.

On 15th January 1912 Beilby Lawley 3rd Baron Wenlock (age 62) died. His brother Richard (age 56) succeeded 4th Baron Wenlock of Wenlock in Shropshire, 11th Baronet Lawley of Spoonhill in Shropshire.

All About History Books

The Chronicle of Geoffrey le Baker of Swinbroke. Baker was a secular clerk from Swinbroke, now Swinbrook, an Oxfordshire village two miles east of Burford. His Chronicle describes the events of the period 1303-1356: Gaveston, Bannockburn, Boroughbridge, the murder of King Edward II, the Scottish Wars, Sluys, Crécy, the Black Death, Winchelsea and Poitiers. To quote Herbert Bruce 'it possesses a vigorous and characteristic style, and its value for particular events between 1303 and 1356 has been recognised by its editor and by subsequent writers'. The book provides remarkable detail about the events it describes. Baker's text has been augmented with hundreds of notes, including extracts from other contemporary chronicles, such as the Annales Londonienses, Annales Paulini, Murimuth, Lanercost, Avesbury, Guisborough and Froissart to enrich the reader's understanding. The translation takes as its source the 'Chronicon Galfridi le Baker de Swynebroke' published in 1889, edited by Edward Maunde Thompson. Available at Amazon in eBook and Paperback.
