The Chronicle of Walter of Guisborough, a canon regular of the Augustinian Guisborough Priory, Yorkshire, formerly known as The Chronicle of Walter of Hemingburgh, describes the period from 1066 to 1346. Before 1274 the Chronicle is based on other works. Thereafter, the Chronicle is original, and a remarkable source for the events of the time. This book provides a translation of the Chronicle from that date. The Latin source for our translation is the 1849 work edited by Hans Claude Hamilton. Hamilton, in his preface, says: "In the present work we behold perhaps one of the finest samples of our early chronicles, both as regards the value of the events recorded, and the correctness with which they are detailed; Nor will the pleasing style of composition be lightly passed over by those capable of seeing reflected from it the tokens of a vigorous and cultivated mind, and a favourable specimen of the learning and taste of the age in which it was framed." The King has been pleased to giant the Dignity of a Baronet of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland to George Hilaro Barlow (age 40), Esq; a Member of the Council of Fort William, in Bengal, in the East Indies, and the Heirs Male of his Body lawfully begotten.

On 18th December 1846 George Hilaro Barlow 1st Baronet (age 83) died. His son Robert (age 49) succeeded 2nd Baronet Barlow of Fort William in Bengal.

In 1857 Robert Barlow 2nd Baronet (age 60) died. His son Morison (age 21) succeeded 3rd Baronet Barlow of Fort William in Bengal.

On 10th April 1889 Morison Barlow 3rd Baronet (age 53) died unmarried. His first cousin Richard (age 53) succeeded 4th Baronet Barlow of Fort William in Bengal.

On 10th August 1904 Richard Wellesley Barlow 4th Baronet (age 68) died. His son Hilaro (age 43) succeeded 5th Baronet Barlow of Fort William in Bengal.

On 16th October 1941 Hilaro William Wellesley Barlow 5th Baronet (age 80) died. His son Richard (age 37) succeeded 6th Baronet Barlow of Fort William in Bengal.

On 3rd December 1946 Richard Hugh Barlow 6th Baronet (age 42) died in a plane crash near Quito, Ecuador. His son Christopher (age 17) succeeded 7th Baronet Barlow of Fort William in Bengal.

On 22nd November 2022 Christopher Hilaro Barlow 7th Baronet (age 92) died. His son Crispian (age 64) succeeded 8th Baronet Barlow of Fort William in Bengal.
