The Chronicle of Geoffrey le Baker of Swinbroke. Baker was a secular clerk from Swinbroke, now Swinbrook, an Oxfordshire village two miles east of Burford. His Chronicle describes the events of the period 1303-1356: Gaveston, Bannockburn, Boroughbridge, the murder of King Edward II, the Scottish Wars, Sluys, Crécy, the Black Death, Winchelsea and Poitiers. To quote Herbert Bruce 'it possesses a vigorous and characteristic style, and its value for particular events between 1303 and 1356 has been recognised by its editor and by subsequent writers'. The book provides remarkable detail about the events it describes. Baker's text has been augmented with hundreds of notes, including extracts from other contemporary chronicles, such as the Annales Londonienses, Annales Paulini, Murimuth, Lanercost, Avesbury, Guisborough and Froissart to enrich the reader's understanding. The translation takes as its source the 'Chronicon Galfridi le Baker de Swynebroke' published in 1889, edited by Edward Maunde Thompson. Available at Amazon in eBook and Paperback.

On 26th April 1852 Alexander Ramsay 2nd Baronet (age 67) died. His son Alexander (age 38) succeeded 3rd Baronet Ramsay of Balmain in Kincardineshire.
On 3rd March 1875 Alexander Ramsay 3rd Baronet (age 61) died. His son Alexander (age 38) succeeded 4th Baronet Ramsay of Balmain in Kincardineshire. Octavia Haigh Lady Ramsay by marriage Lady Ramsay of Balmain in Kincardineshire.
On 10th August 1880 Alexander Entwisle Ramsay 4th Baronet (age 43) and Caroline Charlotte Ireland Lady Ramsay (age 36) were married. She by marriage Lady Ramsay of Balmain in Kincardineshire.
On 1st October 1902 Alexander Entwisle Ramsay 4th Baronet (age 65) died. His son Herbert (age 34) succeeded 5th Baronet Ramsay of Balmain in Kincardineshire.
On 22nd May 1924 Herbert Ramsay 5th Baronet (age 56) died. His son Alexander (age 21) succeeded 6th Baronet Ramsay of Balmain in Kincardineshire.
On 25th September 1965 Alexander Burnett Ramsay 6th Baronet (age 62) died. His son Alexander (age 27) succeeded 7th Baronet Ramsay of Balmain in Kincardineshire.
