The Chronicle of Geoffrey le Baker of Swinbroke. Baker was a secular clerk from Swinbroke, now Swinbrook, an Oxfordshire village two miles east of Burford. His Chronicle describes the events of the period 1303-1356: Gaveston, Bannockburn, Boroughbridge, the murder of King Edward II, the Scottish Wars, Sluys, Crécy, the Black Death, Winchelsea and Poitiers. To quote Herbert Bruce 'it possesses a vigorous and characteristic style, and its value for particular events between 1303 and 1356 has been recognised by its editor and by subsequent writers'. The book provides remarkable detail about the events it describes. Baker's text has been augmented with hundreds of notes, including extracts from other contemporary chronicles, such as the Annales Londonienses, Annales Paulini, Murimuth, Lanercost, Avesbury, Guisborough and Froissart to enrich the reader's understanding. The translation takes as its source the 'Chronicon Galfridi le Baker de Swynebroke' published in 1889, edited by Edward Maunde Thompson. Available at Amazon in eBook and Paperback.

James Hamilton 1st Duke Hamilton (age 42) was beheaded. His brother William (age 32) succeeded 2nd Duke Hamilton, 3rd Earl Cambridge, 3rd Baron Innerdale by special remainder.
John Owen (age 49) had been sentenced to death but was subsequently pardoned.
In 1661 Robert Rich 5th Earl Warwick 2nd Earl Holland (age 42) and Anne Montagu Countess Warwick and Holland were married. She by marriage Countess Holland. She the daughter of Edward Montagu 2nd Earl Manchester (age 59) and Anne Rich Viscountess Mandeville. He the son of Henry Rich 1st Earl Holland and Isabel Cope Countess Holland. They were first cousin once removed.
On 16th April 1675 Robert Rich 5th Earl Warwick 2nd Earl Holland (age 56) died. His son Edward (age 2) succeeded 6th Earl Warwick, 3rd Earl Holland, 8th Baron Rich of Leez.
On 31st July 1710 Edward Rich 6th Earl Warwick 3rd Earl Holland (age 37) died. His son Edward (age 12) succeeded 7th Earl Warwick, 4th Earl Holland, 9th Baron Rich of Leez.
On 16th August 1721 Edward Rich 7th Earl Warwick 4th Earl Holland (age 23) died. His second cousin Edward (age 26) succeeded 8th Earl Warwick, 5th Earl Holland, 10th Baron Rich of Leez. Mary Stanton Countess Warwick and Holland by marriage Countess Warwick, Countess Holland.
