The Chronicle of Geoffrey le Baker of Swinbroke. Baker was a secular clerk from Swinbroke, now Swinbrook, an Oxfordshire village two miles east of Burford. His Chronicle describes the events of the period 1303-1356: Gaveston, Bannockburn, Boroughbridge, the murder of King Edward II, the Scottish Wars, Sluys, Crécy, the Black Death, Winchelsea and Poitiers. To quote Herbert Bruce 'it possesses a vigorous and characteristic style, and its value for particular events between 1303 and 1356 has been recognised by its editor and by subsequent writers'. The book provides remarkable detail about the events it describes. Baker's text has been augmented with hundreds of notes, including extracts from other contemporary chronicles, such as the Annales Londonienses, Annales Paulini, Murimuth, Lanercost, Avesbury, Guisborough and Froissart to enrich the reader's understanding. The translation takes as its source the 'Chronicon Galfridi le Baker de Swynebroke' published in 1889, edited by Edward Maunde Thompson. Available at Amazon in eBook and Paperback.

The King has been pleased to direct Letters Patent so be passed under the Great Seal of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland, granting the dignity of a Viscount of the said United Kingdom unto the Right Honourable Charles John (age 83), Lord Colville of Culross, K.T., G.C.V.O., Lord Chamberlain to Her Majesty Queen Alexandra, and the heirs male of his body lawfully begotten, by the name, style, and title of Viscount Colville of Culross, in the county of' Perth.

On 1st July 1903 Charles Colville 1st Viscount Colville (age 84) died. His son Charles (age 49) succeeded 2nd Viscount Colville of Culrossin Perthshire.

In 1928 Charles Colville 2nd Viscount (age 74) died. His son Charles (age 40) succeeded 3rd Viscount Colville of Culrossin Perthshire.

In 1945 Charles Colville 3rd Viscount Colville (age 57) died. His son Mark (age 11) succeeded 4th Viscount Colville of Culrossin Perthshire.

On 8th April 2010 Mark Colville 4th Viscount Colville (age 76) died. His son Charles (age 50) succeeded 5th Viscount Colville of Culrossin Perthshire.
