The Chronicle of Geoffrey le Baker of Swinbroke. Baker was a secular clerk from Swinbroke, now Swinbrook, an Oxfordshire village two miles east of Burford. His Chronicle describes the events of the period 1303-1356: Gaveston, Bannockburn, Boroughbridge, the murder of King Edward II, the Scottish Wars, Sluys, Crécy, the Black Death, Winchelsea and Poitiers. To quote Herbert Bruce 'it possesses a vigorous and characteristic style, and its value for particular events between 1303 and 1356 has been recognised by its editor and by subsequent writers'. The book provides remarkable detail about the events it describes. Baker's text has been augmented with hundreds of notes, including extracts from other contemporary chronicles, such as the Annales Londonienses, Annales Paulini, Murimuth, Lanercost, Avesbury, Guisborough and Froissart to enrich the reader's understanding. The translation takes as its source the 'Chronicon Galfridi le Baker de Swynebroke' published in 1889, edited by Edward Maunde Thompson. Available at Amazon in eBook and Paperback.

The King has been pleased, by Letters Patent under the Great Seal of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland, to confer the dignity of a Viscount of the said United Kingdom upon the Right Honourable Weetman Dickinson (age 60), Baron Cowdray, President of the Air Board; and the heirs male of his body lawfully begotten, by the name, style and title of Viscount Cowdray, of Cowdray, in the county of Sussex. On 1st May 1927 Weetman Dickinson Pearson 1st Viscount Cowdray (age 70) died. His son Harold (age 45) succeeded 2nd Viscount Cowdray of Cowdray in Sussex. Agnes Beryl Spencer-Churchill Viscountess Cowdray (age 45) by marriage Viscountess Cowdray of Cowdray in Sussex.
On 5th October 1933 Harold Pearson 2nd Viscount Cowdray (age 51) died. His son Weetman (age 23) succeeded 3rd Viscount Cowdray of Cowdray in Sussex.
On 19th July 1939 Weetman John Pearson 3rd Viscount Cowdray (age 29) and Anne Pamela Bridgeman Viscountess Cowdray (age 26) were married. She by marriage Viscountess Cowdray of Cowdray in Sussex. She the daughter of Orlando Bridgeman 5th Earl Bradford (age 65) and Margaret Cecilia Bruce Countess Bradford (age 56).
On 4th March 1953 Weetman John Pearson 3rd Viscount Cowdray (age 43) and Elizabeth Mather-Jackson Viscountess Cowdray were married. She by marriage Viscountess Cowdray of Cowdray in Sussex.
On 19th January 1995 Weetman John Pearson 3rd Viscount Cowdray (age 84) died. His son Michael (age 50) succeeded 4th Viscount Cowdray of Cowdray in Sussex.
