The Chronicle of Geoffrey le Baker of Swinbroke. Baker was a secular clerk from Swinbroke, now Swinbrook, an Oxfordshire village two miles east of Burford. His Chronicle describes the events of the period 1303-1356: Gaveston, Bannockburn, Boroughbridge, the murder of King Edward II, the Scottish Wars, Sluys, Crécy, the Black Death, Winchelsea and Poitiers. To quote Herbert Bruce 'it possesses a vigorous and characteristic style, and its value for particular events between 1303 and 1356 has been recognised by its editor and by subsequent writers'. The book provides remarkable detail about the events it describes. Baker's text has been augmented with hundreds of notes, including extracts from other contemporary chronicles, such as the Annales Londonienses, Annales Paulini, Murimuth, Lanercost, Avesbury, Guisborough and Froissart to enrich the reader's understanding. The translation takes as its source the 'Chronicon Galfridi le Baker de Swynebroke' published in 1889, edited by Edward Maunde Thompson. Available at Amazon in eBook and Paperback.

He the son of King Henry "Curtmantle" II of England and Eleanor of Aquitaine Queen Consort Franks and England (age 78). They were fourth cousin once removed.
On 10th May 1220 [his father] Hugh X of Lusignan V Count La Marche (age 37) and [his mother] Isabella of Angoulême Queen Consort England (age 32) were married. She by marriage Seigneur of Lusignan, Countess La Marche. She the daughter of [his grandfather] Aymer Angoulême I Count Angoulême and [his grandmother] Alice Courtenay Countess Angoulême.
In 1221 Hugh XI of Lusignan VI Count of La Marche II Count Angoulême was born to Hugh X of Lusignan V Count La Marche (age 38) and Isabella of Angoulême Queen Consort England (age 33).
Before 1235 Hugh XI of Lusignan VI Count of La Marche II Count Angoulême (age 13) and Yolande Capet Countess Lusignan, La Marche and Angoulême (age 15) were married. She the daughter of Peter of Dreux aka Mauclerc Duke Brittany (age 47) and Alix Thouars Duchess of Brittany. He the son of Hugh X of Lusignan V Count La Marche (age 51) and Isabella of Angoulême Queen Consort England (age 46). They were third cousins. She a great x 4 granddaughter of King Henry I "Beauclerc" England.
Around 1235 [his son] Hugh XII of Lusignan VII Count of La Marche III Count Angoulême was born to Hugh XI of Lusignan VI Count of La Marche II Count Angoulême (age 14) and [his wife] Yolande Capet Countess Lusignan, La Marche and Angoulême (age 16).
In 1236 [his brother-in-law] John "The Red" Capet I Duke Brittany (age 18) and Blanche "Navarre" Blois Duchess Brittany (age 10) were married. She the daughter of Theobald IV King Navarre (age 34) and Agnes of Beaujeu Countess Savoy. After 1236 [his daughter] Alice or Alix Lusignan Countess Gloucester and Hertford was born to Hugh XI of Lusignan VI Count of La Marche II Count Angoulême (age 15) and [his wife] Yolande Capet Countess Lusignan, La Marche and Angoulême (age 17).
In 1242 [his daughter] Mary or Marie Lusignan Countess Derby was born to Hugh XI of Lusignan VI Count of La Marche II Count Angoulême (age 21) and [his wife] Yolande Capet Countess Lusignan, La Marche and Angoulême (age 23).
On 21st July 1242 the forces of [his half-brother] King Henry III of England (age 34) and Hugh XI of Lusignan VI Count of La Marche II Count Angoulême (age 21) fought against the forces of at King Louis IX of France (age 28) and his brother Alphonse Capet Count Poitou II Count Toulose (age 21) at Taillebourg [Map] during the Battle of Taillebourg. The battle was a decisive victory for the French. Henry thereafter signed a five-year truce with the French.
On 4th June 1246 [his mother] Isabella of Angoulême Queen Consort England (age 58) died at Fontevraud Abbey [Map]. Her son Hugh (age 25) succeeded II Count Angoulême. [his wife] Yolande Capet Countess Lusignan, La Marche and Angoulême (age 27) by marriage Countess Angoulême.
In 1248 [his daughter] Isabelle Lusignan was born to Hugh XI of Lusignan VI Count of La Marche II Count Angoulême (age 27) and [his wife] Yolande Capet Countess Lusignan, La Marche and Angoulême (age 29).
In 1249 [his son-in-law] Robert Ferrers 6th Earl of Derby (age 10) and [his daughter] Mary or Marie Lusignan Countess Derby (age 7) were married. She the daughter of Hugh XI of Lusignan VI Count of La Marche II Count Angoulême (age 28) and [his wife] Yolande Capet Countess Lusignan, La Marche and Angoulême (age 30). He the son of William Ferrers 5th Earl of Derby (age 56) and Margaret Quincy Countess Derby. They were fourth cousins. He a great x 4 grandson of King Henry I "Beauclerc" England. On 6th April 1250 Hugh XI of Lusignan VI Count of La Marche II Count Angoulême (age 29) died. His son [his son] Hugh (age 15) succeeded XII Seigneur of Lusignan, VII Count La Marche, III Count Angoulême.
In 1272 [his former wife] Yolande Capet Countess Lusignan, La Marche and Angoulême (age 53) died.
