The Chronicle of Geoffrey le Baker of Swinbroke. Baker was a secular clerk from Swinbroke, now Swinbrook, an Oxfordshire village two miles east of Burford. His Chronicle describes the events of the period 1303-1356: Gaveston, Bannockburn, Boroughbridge, the murder of King Edward II, the Scottish Wars, Sluys, Crécy, the Black Death, Winchelsea and Poitiers. To quote Herbert Bruce 'it possesses a vigorous and characteristic style, and its value for particular events between 1303 and 1356 has been recognised by its editor and by subsequent writers'. The book provides remarkable detail about the events it describes. Baker's text has been augmented with hundreds of notes, including extracts from other contemporary chronicles, such as the Annales Londonienses, Annales Paulini, Murimuth, Lanercost, Avesbury, Guisborough and Froissart to enrich the reader's understanding. The translation takes as its source the 'Chronicon Galfridi le Baker de Swynebroke' published in 1889, edited by Edward Maunde Thompson. Available at Amazon in eBook and Paperback.

John Talbot 1st Viscount Lisle (age 27) was killed. He the son of John "Old Talbot" Talbot 1st Earl of Shrewsbury.
Robert Hungerford 3rd Baron Hungerford 1st Baron Moleyns (age 22) and John Foix 1st Earl Kendal (age 43) were captured.
After 1410 John Foix 1st Earl Kendal was born to Gaston Foix and Isabelle Albret.
In 1446 John Foix 1st Earl Kendal (age 35) was appointed 163rd Knight of the Garter by King Henry VI of England and II of France (age 24).
In 1446 John Foix 1st Earl Kendal (age 35) was created 1st Earl Kendal. [his future wife] Margaret Kerdeston Countess Foix (age 20) by marriage Countess Foix.
In or before 1448 John Foix 1st Earl Kendal (age 37) and Margaret Kerdeston Countess Foix (age 22) were married.
After 7th July 1453 John Foix 1st Earl Kendal (age 43) was imprisoned Taillebourg Castle.
In 1456 John Foix 1st Earl Kendal (age 45) succeeded Captal de Buch.
On 18th January 1460 John Foix 1st Earl Kendal (age 50) was released after promising to pay 23,850 écus.
In 1462 John Foix 1st Earl Kendal (age 51) renounced his title of Earl Kendal. There is some confusion as to whether he did or not? His descendants in France continued to use the title under the name 'Candale'.
In 1485 John Foix 1st Earl Kendal (age 74) died.
In 1448 [his son] Gaston de Foix 2nd Earl Kendal was born to John Foix 1st Earl Kendal (age 37) and [his wife] Margaret Kerdeston Countess Foix (age 22)
Before 1484 [his son] Gaston de Foix 2nd Earl Kendal (age 35) and [his daughter-in-law] Catherine of Foix Countess Kendal (age 28) were married. She the daughter of Gaston IV Count Foix and Eleanor Trastámara Queen Consort Navarre. He the son of John Foix 1st Earl Kendal (age 73) and [his wife] Margaret Kerdeston Countess Foix (age 58). They were second cousins.
In 1455 [his father] Gaston Foix died.
Before 1410 [his father] Gaston Foix and [his mother] Isabelle Albret were married.
Jean Grailly and [his mother] Isabelle Albret were married.
After 5th December 1485 [his former wife] Margaret Kerdeston Countess Foix (deceased) died.
