The Chronicle of Geoffrey le Baker of Swinbroke. Baker was a secular clerk from Swinbroke, now Swinbrook, an Oxfordshire village two miles east of Burford. His Chronicle describes the events of the period 1303-1356: Gaveston, Bannockburn, Boroughbridge, the murder of King Edward II, the Scottish Wars, Sluys, Crécy, the Black Death, Winchelsea and Poitiers. To quote Herbert Bruce 'it possesses a vigorous and characteristic style, and its value for particular events between 1303 and 1356 has been recognised by its editor and by subsequent writers'. The book provides remarkable detail about the events it describes. Baker's text has been augmented with hundreds of notes, including extracts from other contemporary chronicles, such as the Annales Londonienses, Annales Paulini, Murimuth, Lanercost, Avesbury, Guisborough and Froissart to enrich the reader's understanding. The translation takes as its source the 'Chronicon Galfridi le Baker de Swynebroke' published in 1889, edited by Edward Maunde Thompson. Available at Amazon in eBook and Paperback.

Joseph I King Portugal (age 14) and Infante Mariana Victoria of Spain (age 10) were married. She the daughter of Philippe V King Spain (age 45) and Elisabeth Farnese Queen Consort Spain (age 36). He the son of John V King Portugal (age 39).

Ferdinand VI King Spain (age 15) and Barbara Queen Consort Spain (age 17) were married. She the daughter of John V King Portugal. He the son of Philippe V King Spain and Maria Luisa Savoy.

In 1738 [his brother-in-law] Charles III King Spain (age 21) and Maria Amalia of Saxony Queen Consort Spain (age 13) were married. He the son of [his father-in-law] Philippe V King Spain (age 54) and [his mother-in-law] Elisabeth Farnese Queen Consort Spain (age 45). They were fourth cousins. She a great x 4 granddaughter of King James I of England and Ireland and VI of Scotland.

On 9th July 1746 [his father-in-law] Philippe V King Spain (age 62) died at the El Escorial Palace. His son [his brother-in-law] Ferdinand (age 32) succeeded VI King Spain. [his sister] Barbara Queen Consort Spain (age 34) by marriage Queen Consort Spain.

On 31st July 1750 [his father] John V King Portugal (age 60) died. His son Joseph (age 36) succeeded King Portugal.

On 10th August 1759 [his brother-in-law] Ferdinand VI King Spain (age 45) died without issue. His half brother [his brother-in-law] Charles (age 43) succeeded King Spain.

On 24th February 1777 Joseph I King Portugal (age 62) died.

On 15th January 1781 [his former wife] Infante Mariana Victoria of Spain (age 62) died.
