Henrici Quinti, Angliæ Regis, Gesta, is a first-hand account of the Agincourt Campaign, and subsequent events to his death in 1422. The author of the first part was a Chaplain in King Henry's retinue who was present from King Henry's departure at Southampton in 1415, at the siege of Harfleur, the battle of Agincourt, and the celebrations on King Henry's return to London. The second part, by another writer, relates the events that took place including the negotiations at Troye, Henry's marriage and his death in 1422.

On 29th March 1904 Charles Hepburn-Stuart-Forbes-Trefusis 20th Baron Clinton [aged 70] died at Cairo, Egypt. His son Charles [aged 41] succeeded 21st Baron Clinton. Jane Grey McDonnell Baroness Clinton [aged 40] by marriage Baroness Clinton.
On 17th September 1940 Napier Sturt 3rd Baron Alington [aged 43] died of pneumonia in Cairo, Egypt whilst on active service. He was buried at the New British Protestant Cemetery, Cairo. Baron Alington extinct.
On 20th April 1898 Brigadier-General Charles Fitz-Clarence [aged 32] and Violet Spencer-Churchill [aged 34] were married at the Citadel Church, Cairo. They were sixth cousins. He a great grandson of King William IV of the United Kingdom.
On 5th April 1923 George Edward Stanhope Molyneux Herbert 5th Earl Carnarvon [aged 56] died in the Continental Savoy Hotel, Cairo of an mosquito bite infected by a razor cut. His son Henry [aged 24] succeeded 6th Earl Carnarvon, 6th Baron Porchester of Highclere in Hampshire. Anne Catherine Tredick Wendell Countess Carnarvon [aged 22] by marriage Countess Carnarvon.

In 1249 John Stewart was killed at Damietta during the Seventh Crusade.
This is a translation of the 'Memoires of Jacques du Clercq', published in 1823 in two volumes, edited by Frederic, Baron de Reissenberg. In his introduction Reissenberg writes: 'Jacques du Clercq tells us that he was born in 1424, and that he was a licentiate in law and a counsellor to Philip the Good, Duke of Burgundy, in the castellany of Douai, Lille, and Orchies. It appears that he established his residence at Arras. In 1446, he married the daughter of Baldwin de la Lacherie, a gentleman who lived in Lille. We read in the fifth book of his Memoirs that his father, also named Jacques du Clercq, had married a lady of the Le Camelin family, from Compiègne. His ancestors, always attached to the counts of Flanders, had constantly served them, whether in their councils or in their armies.' The Memoires cover a period of nineteen years beginning in in 1448, ending in in 1467. It appears that the author had intended to extend the Memoirs beyond that date; no doubt illness or death prevented him from carrying out this plan. As Reissenberg writes the 'merit of this work lies in the simplicity of its narrative, in its tone of good faith, and in a certain air of frankness which naturally wins the reader’s confidence.' Du Clercq ranges from events of national and international importance, including events of the Wars of the Roses in England, to simple, everyday local events such as marriages, robberies, murders, trials and deaths, including that of his own father in Book 5; one of his last entries.

He a great x 2 grandson of King Henry "Curtmantle" II of England. He married his fourth cousin once removed Yolande Burgundy II Countess Nevers and Flanders.
John Evelyn's Diary. 24th August 1641. Haerlem is a very delicate town, and hath one of the fairest churches of the Gothic design I had ever seen. There hang in the steeple, which is very high, two silver bells, said to have been brought from Damietta, in Egypt, by an Earl of Holland, in memory of whose success they are rung out every evening. In the nave, hang the goodliest branches of brass for tapers that I have seen, esteemed of great value for the curiosity of the work-manship; also a fair pair of organs, which I could not find they made use of in diviae service, or so much as to assist them in singing psalms, but only for show, and to recreate the people before and after their devotions, whilst the burgomasters were walking and conferring about their affairs. Near the west window hang two models of ships, completely equipped, in memory of that invention of saws under their keels, with which they cut through the chain of booms, which barred the port of Damietta. Having visited this church, the fish-market, and made some inquiry about the printing-house, the invention whereof is said to liave been in this town, I returned to Leyden.
