The Chronicle of Geoffrey le Baker of Swinbroke. Baker was a secular clerk from Swinbroke, now Swinbrook, an Oxfordshire village two miles east of Burford. His Chronicle describes the events of the period 1303-1356: Gaveston, Bannockburn, Boroughbridge, the murder of King Edward II, the Scottish Wars, Sluys, Crécy, the Black Death, Winchelsea and Poitiers. To quote Herbert Bruce 'it possesses a vigorous and characteristic style, and its value for particular events between 1303 and 1356 has been recognised by its editor and by subsequent writers'. The book provides remarkable detail about the events it describes. Baker's text has been augmented with hundreds of notes, including extracts from other contemporary chronicles, such as the Annales Londonienses, Annales Paulini, Murimuth, Lanercost, Avesbury, Guisborough and Froissart to enrich the reader's understanding. The translation takes as its source the 'Chronicon Galfridi le Baker de Swynebroke' published in 1889, edited by Edward Maunde Thompson. Available at Amazon in eBook and Paperback.

Around 1788 or 1794 Franz Seraph Stirnbrand was born to unknown parents. Found abandoned in a ditch, he was presumed to be the illegitimate son of a Croatian soldier from a unit stationed nearby. He was raised by Johann Baptist Röser.

Catherine Pavlovna of Russia: On 21st May 1788 she was born to Paul Emperor of Russia and Empress Sophie Dorothea of Russia. She a great x 3 granddaughter of King George I of Great Britain and Ireland. On 9th January 1819 Catherine Pavlovna of Russia died.

Princess Pauline of Württemberg: On 25th February 1810 she was born to Prince Paul Heinrich Württemberg. She a great x 3 granddaughter of King George II of Great Britain and Ireland. On 23rd April 1829 Duke William of Nassau and she were married. They were third cousin once removed. He a great x 2 grandson of King George II of Great Britain and Ireland. She a great x 3 granddaughter of King George II of Great Britain and Ireland. On 7th July 1856 she died.

On 2nd August 1882 Franz Seraph Stirnbrand died.
