William of Worcester's Chronicle of England
William of Worcester, born around 1415, and died around 1482 was secretary to John Fastolf, the renowned soldier of the Hundred Years War, during which time he collected documents, letters, and wrote a record of events. Following their return to England in 1440 William was witness to major events. Twice in his chronicle he uses the first person: 1. when writing about the murder of Thomas, 7th Baron Scales, in 1460, he writes '… and I saw him lying naked in the cemetery near the porch of the church of St. Mary Overie in Southwark …' and 2. describing King Edward IV's entry into London in 1461 he writes '… proclaimed that all the people themselves were to recognize and acknowledge Edward as king. I was present and heard this, and immediately went down with them into the city'. William’s Chronicle is rich in detail. It is the source of much information about the Wars of the Roses, including the term 'Diabolical Marriage' to describe the marriage of Queen Elizabeth Woodville’s brother John’s marriage to Katherine, Dowager Duchess of Norfolk, he aged twenty, she sixty-five or more, and the story about a paper crown being placed in mockery on the severed head of Richard, 3rd Duke of York.

On 12th July 1804 [his father] Francis Rawdon-Hastings 1st Marquess Hastings [aged 49] and [his mother] Flora Mure-Campbell Marchioness of Hastings [aged 24] were married. The difference in their ages was 25 years. She the daughter of [his grandfather] James Mure-Campbell 5th Earl Loudon. He the son of John Rawdon 1st Earl Moira and Elizabeth Hastings Countess Moira [aged 73].
On 4th February 1808 George Augustus Francis Rawdon-Hastings 2nd Marquess Hastings was born to Francis Rawdon-Hastings 1st Marquess Hastings [aged 53] and Flora Mure-Campbell Marchioness of Hastings [aged 28].
On 11th April 1808 [his grandmother] Elizabeth Hastings Countess Moira [aged 77] died. Her son [his father] Francis [aged 53] succeeded 17th Baron Botreaux, 16th Baron Hungerford, 14th Baron Moleyns and 14th Baron Hastings.
On 29th October 1810 Henry Gould Yelverton 19th Baron Grey Ruthyn [aged 30] died without male issue. His daughter [his future wife] Barbara succeeded 20th Baroness Grey of Ruthyn aged seven months.
On 6th December 1816 [his father] Francis Rawdon-Hastings 1st Marquess Hastings [aged 61] was created 1st Marquess Hastings. [his mother] Flora Mure-Campbell Marchioness of Hastings [aged 36] by marriage Marchioness Hastings.
On 28th November 1826 [his father] Francis Rawdon-Hastings 1st Marquess Hastings [aged 71] died. His son George [aged 18] succeeded 2nd Marquess Hastings, 3rd Earl Moira, 18th Baron Botreaux, 17th Baron Hungerford, 15th Baron Moleyns and 15th Baron Hastings. [his future wife] Barbara Yelverton Marchioness Hastings [aged 16] by marriage Marchioness Hastings.
On 25th June 1828 Reverend Robert Behoe Radcliffe [aged 30] was instituted as Vicar of St Helen's Church Ashby-de-la-Zouch, Leicestershire [Map] which position he held until he died four years later in 1832. His appointment has been arranged by George Augustus Francis Rawdon-Hastings 2nd Marquess Hastings [aged 20] to whom he was formerley Tutor.
On 1st August 1831 George Augustus Francis Rawdon-Hastings 2nd Marquess Hastings [aged 23] and Barbara Yelverton Marchioness Hastings [aged 21] were married. He the son of Francis Rawdon-Hastings 1st Marquess Hastings and Flora Mure-Campbell Marchioness of Hastings [aged 51].
On 2nd June 1832 [his son] Paulyn Reginald Serlo Rawdon-Hastings 3rd Marquess Hastings was born to George Augustus Francis Rawdon-Hastings 2nd Marquess Hastings [aged 24] and [his wife] Barbara Yelverton Marchioness Hastings [aged 22].
Henrici Quinti, Angliæ Regis, Gesta, is a first-hand account of the Agincourt Campaign, and subsequent events to his death in 1422. The author of the first part was a Chaplain in King Henry's retinue who was present from King Henry's departure at Southampton in 1415, at the siege of Harfleur, the battle of Agincourt, and the celebrations on King Henry's return to London. The second part, by another writer, relates the events that took place including the negotiations at Troye, Henry's marriage and his death in 1422.

On 10th December 1833 [his daughter] Edith Maud Rawdon-Hastings 10th Countess Loudon was born to George Augustus Francis Rawdon-Hastings 2nd Marquess Hastings [aged 25] and [his wife] Barbara Yelverton Marchioness Hastings [aged 23]. She married 30th April 1853 Charles Frederick Abney-Hastings 1st Baron Donington and had issue.
In 1835 [his daughter] Bertha Lelgarde Rawdon-Hastings 22nd Baroness Grey Ruthyn was born to George Augustus Francis Rawdon-Hastings 2nd Marquess Hastings [aged 26] and [his wife] Barbara Yelverton Marchioness Hastings [aged 24]. She married before 22nd November 1856 Augustus Wykeham Clifton and had issue.
In 1837 [his daughter] Victoria Maria Louisa Rawdon-Hastings was born to George Augustus Francis Rawdon-Hastings 2nd Marquess Hastings [aged 28] and [his wife] Barbara Yelverton Marchioness Hastings [aged 26].
On 8th January 1840 [his mother] Flora Mure-Campbell Marchioness of Hastings [aged 60] died. Her son George [aged 31] succeeded 7th Earl Loudon.
On 22nd July 1842 [his son] Henry Weysford Charles Plantagenet Rawdon-Hastings 4th Marquess Hastings was born to George Augustus Francis Rawdon-Hastings 2nd Marquess Hastings [aged 34] and [his wife] Barbara Yelverton Marchioness Hastings [aged 32]. He married 16th July 1864 Florence Cecilia Paget Marchioness Hastings, daughter of Henry Paget 2nd Marquess Anglesey and Henrietta Bagot Marchioness Anglesey.
In 1844 [his daughter] Frances Augusta Constance Muir Rawdon-Hastings Countess Romney was born to George Augustus Francis Rawdon-Hastings 2nd Marquess Hastings [aged 35] and [his wife] Barbara Yelverton Marchioness Hastings [aged 33]. She married 30th July 1863 her sixth cousin Charles Marsham 4th Earl Romney, son of Charles Marsham 3rd Earl Romney and Margaret Harriet Montagu Scott Countess Romney, and had issue.
On 13th January 1844 George Augustus Francis Rawdon-Hastings 2nd Marquess Hastings [aged 35] died. His son Paulyn [aged 11] succeeded 3rd Marquess Hastings, 8th Earl Loudon, 4th Earl Moira, 19th Baron Botreaux, 18th Baron Hungerford, 16th Baron Moleyns and 16th Baron Hastings.
