The Chronicle of Geoffrey le Baker of Swinbroke. Baker was a secular clerk from Swinbroke, now Swinbrook, an Oxfordshire village two miles east of Burford. His Chronicle describes the events of the period 1303-1356: Gaveston, Bannockburn, Boroughbridge, the murder of King Edward II, the Scottish Wars, Sluys, Crécy, the Black Death, Winchelsea and Poitiers. To quote Herbert Bruce 'it possesses a vigorous and characteristic style, and its value for particular events between 1303 and 1356 has been recognised by its editor and by subsequent writers'. The book provides remarkable detail about the events it describes. Baker's text has been augmented with hundreds of notes, including extracts from other contemporary chronicles, such as the Annales Londonienses, Annales Paulini, Murimuth, Lanercost, Avesbury, Guisborough and Froissart to enrich the reader's understanding. The translation takes as its source the 'Chronicon Galfridi le Baker de Swynebroke' published in 1889, edited by Edward Maunde Thompson. Available at Amazon in eBook and Paperback.

In 1670 William Fitzwilliam 3rd Viscount Fitzwilliam (age 60) died. His son Thomas (age 30) succeeded 4th Viscount Fitzwilliam of Mount Merrion House in Dublin.

In 1704 Thomas Fitzwilliam 4th Viscount Fitzwilliam (age 64) died. His son Richard (age 27) succeeded 5th Viscount Fitzwilliam of Mount Merrion House in Dublin. Frances Shelley Viscountess Fitzwilliam (age 18) by marriage Viscountess Fitzwilliam of Mount Merrion House in Dublin.

On 6th June 1743 Richard Fitzwilliam 5th Viscount Fitzwilliam (age 66) died. His son Richard (age 31) succeeded 6th Viscount Fitzwilliam of Mount Merrion House in Dublin.

On 25th May 1776 Richard Fitzwilliam 6th Viscount Fitzwilliam (age 64) died. His son Richard (age 30) succeeded 7th Viscount Fitzwilliam of Mount Merrion House in Dublin.

On 4th February 1816 Richard Fitzwilliam 7th Viscount Fitzwilliam (age 70) died unmarried. He was buried at St Mary Magdalene Church, Richmond [Map]. His brother John (age 63) succeeded 8th Viscount Fitzwilliam of Mount Merrion House in Dublin.

In 1830 John Fitzwilliam 8th Viscount Fitzwilliam (age 77) died. His brother Thomas (age 74) succeeded 8th Viscount Fitzwilliam of Mount Merrion House in Dublin.

In January 1833 Thomas Fitzwilliam 9th Viscount Fitzwilliam (age 77) died. Viscount Fitzwilliam of Mount Merrion House in Dublin extinct.
