The Chronicle of Geoffrey le Baker of Swinbroke. Baker was a secular clerk from Swinbroke, now Swinbrook, an Oxfordshire village two miles east of Burford. His Chronicle describes the events of the period 1303-1356: Gaveston, Bannockburn, Boroughbridge, the murder of King Edward II, the Scottish Wars, Sluys, Crécy, the Black Death, Winchelsea and Poitiers. To quote Herbert Bruce 'it possesses a vigorous and characteristic style, and its value for particular events between 1303 and 1356 has been recognised by its editor and by subsequent writers'. The book provides remarkable detail about the events it describes. Baker's text has been augmented with hundreds of notes, including extracts from other contemporary chronicles, such as the Annales Londonienses, Annales Paulini, Murimuth, Lanercost, Avesbury, Guisborough and Froissart to enrich the reader's understanding. The translation takes as its source the 'Chronicon Galfridi le Baker de Swynebroke' published in 1889, edited by Edward Maunde Thompson. Available at Amazon in eBook and Paperback.

On 12th February 1801 Valentine Browne 1st Earl of Kenmare (age 47) was created 1st Viscount Kenmare.

On 3rd October 1812 Valentine Browne 1st Earl of Kenmare (age 58) died. His son Valentine (age 24) succeeded 2nd Earl Kenmare, 2nd Viscount Kenmare.

On 31st October 1853 Valentine Browne 2nd Earl of Kenmare (age 65) died. His brother Thomas (age 64) succeeded 3rd Earl Kenmare, 3rd Viscount Kenmare.

In 1871 Thomas Browne 3rd Earl of Kenmare (age 82) died. His son Valentine (age 45) succeeded 4th Earl Kenmare, 4th Viscount Kenmare. Gertrude Thynne Countess Kenmare by marriage Countess Kenmare.

On 9th February 1905 Valentine Browne 4th Earl of Kenmare (age 79) died. His son Valentine (age 44) succeeded 4th Earl Kenmare, 5th Viscount Kenmare.

On 14th November 1941 Valentine Charles Browne 5th Earl of Kenmare (age 80) died. His son Valentine (age 50) succeeded 6th Earl Kenmare, 6th Viscount Kenmare.

On 20th September 1943 Valentine Browne 6th Earl of Kenmare (age 52) died. His brother Gerald (age 46) succeeded Earl Kenmare, 7th Viscount Kenmare.

On 14th February 1952 Gerald Ralph Desmond Browne 7th Earl of Kenmare (age 55) died. Earl Kenmare, Viscount Kenmare extinct.
