The Chronicle of Geoffrey le Baker of Swinbroke. Baker was a secular clerk from Swinbroke, now Swinbrook, an Oxfordshire village two miles east of Burford. His Chronicle describes the events of the period 1303-1356: Gaveston, Bannockburn, Boroughbridge, the murder of King Edward II, the Scottish Wars, Sluys, Crécy, the Black Death, Winchelsea and Poitiers. To quote Herbert Bruce 'it possesses a vigorous and characteristic style, and its value for particular events between 1303 and 1356 has been recognised by its editor and by subsequent writers'. The book provides remarkable detail about the events it describes. Baker's text has been augmented with hundreds of notes, including extracts from other contemporary chronicles, such as the Annales Londonienses, Annales Paulini, Murimuth, Lanercost, Avesbury, Guisborough and Froissart to enrich the reader's understanding. The translation takes as its source the 'Chronicon Galfridi le Baker de Swynebroke' published in 1889, edited by Edward Maunde Thompson. Available at Amazon in eBook and Paperback.

Before 1469 [her father] Galeazzo Maria Sforza 5th Duke Milan (age 24) and [her mother] Bona of Savoy (age 19) were married. He the son of [her grandfather] Francesco Sforza I Duke Milan and [her grandmother] Bianca Maria Visconti. They were second cousin once removed. In 1472 Bianca Maria Sforza Holy Roman Empress was born to Galeazzo Maria Sforza 5th Duke Milan (age 27) and Bona of Savoy (age 22).
On 26th December 1476 [her father] Galeazzo Maria Sforza 5th Duke Milan (age 32) was murdered at the Basilica di Santo Stefano Maggiore, Milan [Map]. Supported by about thirty friends, the three men waited in the church for the duke to arrive for mass. When Galeazzo Sforza arrived, Lampugnani knelt before him; after some words were exchanged, Lampugnani rose suddenly and stabbed Sforza in the groin and breast. Olgiati and Visconti soon joined in, as did a servant of Lampugnani's. Sforza was dead within a matter of seconds. All the assassins quickly escaped in the ensuing mayhem save for Lampugnani, who became entangled in some of the church's cloth and was killed by a guard. His body soon fell into the hands of a mob, which dragged the corpse through the streets, slashing and beating at it; finally, they hung the body upside-down outside Lampugnani's house. The beheaded corpse was cut down the next day and, in an act of symbolism, the "sinning" right hand was removed, burnt and put on display. His son [her brother] Gian (age 7) succeeded 6th Duke Milan.
On 18th August 1477 [her future husband] Maximilian Habsburg I Holy Roman Emperor (age 18) and Mary Valois Duchess Burgundy (age 20) were married at Ghent [Map]. She the daughter of Charles "Bold" Valois Duke Burgundy and Isabella Bourbon. He the son of Frederick "Peaceful or Fat" Habsburg III Holy Roman Emperor (age 61) and Eleanor Aviz Holy Roman Empress. They were second cousins. He a great x 3 grandson of King Edward III of England. She a great x 3 granddaughter of King Edward III of England.
In 1494 Maximilian Habsburg I Holy Roman Emperor (age 34) and Bianca Maria Sforza Holy Roman Empress (age 22) were married. She by marriage Holy Roman Empress. The Deeds of King Henry V, or in Latin Henrici Quinti, Angliæ Regis, Gesta, is a first-hand account of the Agincourt Campaign, and subsequent events to his death in 1422. The author of the first part was a Chaplain in King Henry's retinue who was present from King Henry's departure at Southampton in 1415, at the siege of Harfleur, the battle of Agincourt, and the celebrations on King Henry's return to London. The second part, by another writer, relates the events that took place including the negotiations at Troye, Henry's marriage and his death in 1422.
