Chronicle of Geoffrey le Baker of Swinbroke
Baker was a secular clerk from Swinbroke, now Swinbrook, an Oxfordshire village two miles east of Burford. His Chronicle describes the events of the period 1303-1356: Gaveston, Bannockburn, Boroughbridge, the murder of King Edward II, the Scottish Wars, Sluys, Crécy, the Black Death, Winchelsea and Poitiers. To quote Herbert Bruce 'it possesses a vigorous and characteristic style, and its value for particular events between 1303 and 1356 has been recognised by its editor and by subsequent writers'. The book provides remarkable detail about the events it describes. Baker's text has been augmented with hundreds of notes, including extracts from other contemporary chronicles, such as the Annales Londonienses, Annales Paulini, Murimuth, Lanercost, Avesbury, Guisborough and Froissart to enrich the reader's understanding. The translation takes as its source the 'Chronicon Galfridi le Baker de Swynebroke' published in 1889, edited by Edward Maunde Thompson.

On 30th April 1553 Louise Lorraine Queen Consort France was born to [her father] Nicholas of Lorraine Duke of Mercœur (age 28) and [her mother] Marguerite Egmont (age 36) in Nomeny.
In 1554 [her mother] Marguerite Egmont (age 37) died in Bar le Duc.
On 24th February 1555 [her father] Nicholas of Lorraine Duke of Mercœur (age 30) and [her step-mother] Princess Joanna of Savoy Nemours (age 23) were married in Brussels [Map]. He the son of [her grandfather] Antoine Lorraine II Duke Lorraine. They were fourth cousin once removed.
On 11th May 1569 [her father] Nicholas of Lorraine Duke of Mercœur (age 44) and [her step-mother] Catherine Romula Duchess of Lorraine (age 18) were married. The difference in their ages was 26 years. He the son of [her grandfather] Antoine Lorraine II Duke Lorraine. They were first cousin once removed.
On 30th May 1574 Charles IX King France (age 23) died. His brother [her future husband] Henry (age 22) succeeded III King France: Capet Valois Angoulême.
In 1575 [her future husband] Henry III King France (age 23) was appointed 361st Knight of the Garter by Queen Elizabeth I of England and Ireland (age 41).
On 13th February 1575 [her future husband] Henry III King France (age 23) was crowned III King France: Capet Valois Angoulême at Reims Cathedral.
On 14th February 1575 Henry III King France (age 23) and Louise Lorraine Queen Consort France (age 21) were married at Reims Cathedral; the day after his coronation. She by marriage Queen Consort France. He the son of King Henry II of France and Catherine Medici Queen Consort France (age 55). They were fourth cousins.
On 12th May 1575 [her husband] Henry III King France (age 23) Abdicated King France: Capet Valois Angoulême. His second cousin Henry (age 21) succeeded IV King France: Capet Valois Bourbon.
Jean de Waurin's Chronicle of England Volume 6 Books 3-6: The Wars of the Roses
Jean de Waurin was a French Chronicler, from the Artois region, who was born around 1400, and died around 1474. Waurin’s Chronicle of England, Volume 6, covering the period 1450 to 1471, from which we have selected and translated Chapters relating to the Wars of the Roses, provides a vivid, original, contemporary description of key events some of which he witnessed first-hand, some of which he was told by the key people involved with whom Waurin had a personal relationship.

On 23rd December 1588 Henry 1st Duke Guise (age 37), leader of the Catholic League, was assassinated at the Château de Blois by the King's bodyguard whilst [her husband] Henry III King France (age 37) looked on.
On 2nd August 1589 [her husband] Henry III King France (age 37) was assassinated.
On 29th January 1601 Louise Lorraine Queen Consort France (age 47) died at the Château de Moulins.
