The Chronicle of Geoffrey le Baker of Swinbroke. Baker was a secular clerk from Swinbroke, now Swinbrook, an Oxfordshire village two miles east of Burford. His Chronicle describes the events of the period 1303-1356: Gaveston, Bannockburn, Boroughbridge, the murder of King Edward II, the Scottish Wars, Sluys, Crécy, the Black Death, Winchelsea and Poitiers. To quote Herbert Bruce 'it possesses a vigorous and characteristic style, and its value for particular events between 1303 and 1356 has been recognised by its editor and by subsequent writers'. The book provides remarkable detail about the events it describes. Baker's text has been augmented with hundreds of notes, including extracts from other contemporary chronicles, such as the Annales Londonienses, Annales Paulini, Murimuth, Lanercost, Avesbury, Guisborough and Froissart to enrich the reader's understanding. The translation takes as its source the 'Chronicon Galfridi le Baker de Swynebroke' published in 1889, edited by Edward Maunde Thompson. Available at Amazon in eBook and Paperback.

On 21st June 1806 [his father] King Christian I of Norway and VIII of Denmark (age 19) and [his mother] Duchess Charlotte Frederica of Mecklenburg-Schwerin (age 21) were married. They were first cousins.
On 6th October 1808 Frederick VII King Denmark was born to King Christian I of Norway and VIII of Denmark (age 22) and Duchess Charlotte Frederica of Mecklenburg-Schwerin (age 23). Coefficient of inbreeding 6.77%.
In 1810 [his father] King Christian I of Norway and VIII of Denmark (age 23) and [his mother] Duchess Charlotte Frederica of Mecklenburg-Schwerin (age 25) were divorced after her alleged affair with her singing teacher Édouard Du Puy. She was exiled; she never saw her one year old son again.
In 1815 [his father] King Christian I of Norway and VIII of Denmark (age 28) and [his step-mother] Caroline Amalie Oldenburg Queen Norway (age 18) were married. She by marriage Queen Consort Norway. She the daughter of Frederick Christian Oldenburg II Duke Schleswig Holstein Sonderburg Augustenburg and Louise Auguste Oldenburg Duchess Schleswig Holstein Sonderburg Augustenburg (age 43). They were half first cousin once removed. She a great x 2 granddaughter of King George II of Great Britain and Ireland.
On 13th July 1840 [his mother] Duchess Charlotte Frederica of Mecklenburg-Schwerin (age 55) died.
On 20th January 1848 [his father] King Christian I of Norway and VIII of Denmark (age 61) died. His son Frederick (age 39) succeeded VII King Denmark.
On 15th November 1863 Frederick VII King Denmark (age 55) died.
