Thomas Boyd 1st Earl Arran was born to Robert Boyd 1st Lord Boyd and Mariota aka Janet Maxwell.

Before 25th March 1460 John Kennedy 2nd Lord Kennedy (age 5) and [his future wife] Elizabeth Montgomerie (age 21) were married.

On 20th January 1465 Thomas Boyd 1st Earl Arran was engaged to Marion Kennedy (age 21) but no marriage took place.

After 20th January 1465 Thomas Boyd 1st Earl Arran and Elizabeth Montgomerie (age 26) were married. They were half first cousins.

Before 26th April 1467 Thomas Boyd 1st Earl Arran and Mary Stewart Countess Arran (age 13) were married. The marriage arranged by his father, Regent Robert Boyd 1st Lord Boyd (age 47). The King, her elder brother King James III of Scotland (age 15) consider the marriage a great insult. He, Thomas, was subsequently charged with treason and when failing to appear in response to a summons, their marriage was declared null and void, and she was married to James Hamilton 1st Lord Hamilton (age 52). She the daughter of King James II of Scotland and Mary of Guelders Queen Consort Scotland.

Around 26th April 1467 Thomas Boyd 1st Earl Arran was created 1st Earl Arran by his father, Regent [his father] Robert Boyd 1st Lord Boyd (age 47).

Around 1469 [his son] James 2nd Lord Boyd was born to Thomas Boyd 1st Earl Arran and [his wife] Mary Stewart Countess Arran (age 15).

In July 1469 [his brother-in-law] King James III of Scotland (age 17) and Margaret Oldenburg Queen Consort Scotland (age 13) were married at Holyrood Abbey, Holyrood. She by marriage Queen Consort Scotland. She the daughter of Christian I King Denmark (age 43) and Dorothea of Brandenburg (age 38). He the son of King James II of Scotland and Mary of Guelders Queen Consort Scotland.

Before 30th June 1471 [his wife] Elizabeth Montgomerie (age 32) died.

After 25th June 1472 [his mother] Mariota aka Janet Maxwell died.

The Chronicle of Geoffrey le Baker of Swinbroke. Baker was a secular clerk from Swinbroke, now Swinbrook, an Oxfordshire village two miles east of Burford. His Chronicle describes the events of the period 1303-1356: Gaveston, Bannockburn, Boroughbridge, the murder of King Edward II, the Scottish Wars, Sluys, Crécy, the Black Death, Winchelsea and Poitiers. To quote Herbert Bruce 'it possesses a vigorous and characteristic style, and its value for particular events between 1303 and 1356 has been recognised by its editor and by subsequent writers'. The book provides remarkable detail about the events it describes. Baker's text has been augmented with hundreds of notes, including extracts from other contemporary chronicles, such as the Annales Londonienses, Annales Paulini, Murimuth, Lanercost, Avesbury, Guisborough and Froissart to enrich the reader's understanding. The translation takes as its source the 'Chronicon Galfridi le Baker de Swynebroke' published in 1889, edited by Edward Maunde Thompson. Available at Amazon in eBook and Paperback.

The difference in their ages was 38 years. She the daughter of King James II of Scotland and Mary of Guelders Queen Consort Scotland.

In May 1488 [his former wife] Mary Stewart Countess Arran (age 34) died.

[his daughter] Grisel aka Margaret Boyd Countess Cassilis was born to Thomas Boyd 1st Earl Arran and Mary Stewart Countess Arran.
