William of Worcester's Chronicle of England
William of Worcester, born around 1415, and died around 1482 was secretary to John Fastolf, the renowned soldier of the Hundred Years War, during which time he collected documents, letters, and wrote a record of events. Following their return to England in 1440 William was witness to major events. Twice in his chronicle he uses the first person: 1. when writing about the murder of Thomas, 7th Baron Scales, in 1460, he writes '… and I saw him lying naked in the cemetery near the porch of the church of St. Mary Overie in Southwark …' and 2. describing King Edward IV's entry into London in 1461 he writes '… proclaimed that all the people themselves were to recognize and acknowledge Edward as king. I was present and heard this, and immediately went down with them into the city'. William’s Chronicle is rich in detail. It is the source of much information about the Wars of the Roses, including the term 'Diabolical Marriage' to describe the marriage of Queen Elizabeth Woodville’s brother John’s marriage to Katherine, Dowager Duchess of Norfolk, he aged twenty, she sixty-five or more, and the story about a paper crown being placed in mockery on the severed head of Richard, 3rd Duke of York.

Katheryn of Berain was born to [her father] Tudor ap Robert Vychan and [her mother] Jane Velville. She a great granddaughter of King Henry VII of England and Ireland.
In 1551 [her future husband] Maurice Wynn (age 31) and Sian Bulkeley were married. They had three sons and five daughters.
On 9th July 1559 John "Wynn" ap Maredudd died. [her future husband] Maurice Wynn (age 39) inherited Gwydir Castle [Map].
In or before 1564 John Salusbury (age 23) and Katheryn of Berain were married.
In 1564 [her son] Thomas Salusbury was born to [her husband] John Salusbury (age 24) and Katheryn of Berain. He a great x 2 grandson of King Henry VII of England and Ireland. He married 1575 Margaret Wynn.
In 1567 [her son] John Salusbury was born to [her husband] John Salusbury (age 27) and Katheryn of Berain. He a great x 2 grandson of King Henry VII of England and Ireland. He married 1586 Ursula Stanley, daughter of Henry Stanley 4th Earl of Derby and Jane Halsall, and had issue.
Before 1568 Richard Clough (age 37) and Katheryn of Berain were married.
In 1568 [her daughter] Anne aka Catherine Clough was born to [her husband] Richard Clough (age 38) and Katheryn of Berain. She a great x 2 granddaughter of King Henry VII of England and Ireland. She married in or before 1623 Roger Salusbury of Bach-y-graig in Denbighshire and had issue.
In 1569 [her daughter] Mary Clough was born to [her husband] Richard Clough (age 39) and Katheryn of Berain. She a great x 2 granddaughter of King Henry VII of England and Ireland. She married William Wynn.
In or before 1570 [her future husband] Maurice Wynn (age 50) and Anne Greville were married.
In 1570 [her husband] Richard Clough (age 40) died at Hamburg. Possibly poisoned as a consequence of his spying acitvities?
In or before January 1573 [her future husband] Maurice Wynn (age 53) and [her mother] Jane Velville were married.

In 1575 [her husband] John Salusbury (age 35) died.
In 1575 [her son] Thomas Salusbury (age 11) and [her daughter-in-law] Margaret Wynn were married. They were step-brother and step-sister. His mother Katheryn of Berain had married as her third husband her father [her husband] Maurice Wynn (age 55).
On 18th August 1580 [her husband] Maurice Wynn (age 60) died. [her step-son] John Wynn 1st Baronet (age 27) inherited Gwydir Castle [Map].
In 1586 [her son] John Salusbury (age 19) and [her daughter-in-law] Ursula Stanley were married. They had ten children of which six, four boys and two girls, survived to adulthood. She the illegitmate daughter of Henry Stanley 4th Earl of Derby (age 54) and Jane Halsall.
On 20th September 1586 Anthony Babington (age 24), John Ballard, Henry Donn, [her son] Thomas Salusbury (age 22) and Chideock Tichbourne (age 24) were hanged, drawn and quartered at St Giles' Field Holborn.
On 27th August 1591 Katheryn of Berain died.
Around 1640 Edward Thelwall of Plas-y-Ward and Katheryn of Berain were married.
In or before 1663 [her husband] Edward Thelwall of Plas-y-Ward and Sydney Wynn (age 22) were married.
[her son] Edward Wynne of Ystrad was born to Maurice Wynn and Katheryn of Berain. He a great x 2 grandson of King Henry VII of England and Ireland.
