1543 Marriage of Henry VIII and Catherine Parr

1551 Edward VI's 14th Birthday

In 1508 [her father] Thomas Parr (age 25) and [her mother] Maud Green Lady in Waiting (age 15) were married. He a great x 4 grandson of King Edward III of England.

On 28 Jan 1512 George Fitzhugh 7th Baron Fitzhugh (age 26) died without issue. Baron Fitzhugh abeyant between the descendants of Alice Fitzhugh (age 64) and Anne Parr Countess Pembroke.

On 15 Jun 1515 Anne Parr Countess Pembroke was born to Thomas Parr (age 32) and Maud Green Lady in Waiting (age 23).

On 11 Nov 1517 [her father] Thomas Parr (age 34) died.

In 1528 William Herbert 1st Earl Pembroke (age 27) and Anne Parr Countess Pembroke (age 12) were married. She a great x 5 granddaughter of King Edward III of England.

On 01 Dec 1531 [her mother] Maud Green Lady in Waiting (age 39) died.

Marriage of Henry VIII and Catherine Parr

On 12 Jul 1543 Henry VIII (age 52) and [her sister] Catherine Parr (age 30) were married at Hampton Court Palace [Map]. She was crowned Queen Consort England. His sixth and last marriage, her third marriage; her previous husband had died four months before. The difference in their ages was 21 years. He the son of King Henry VII of England and Ireland and Elizabeth York Queen Consort England. They were third cousin once removed. She a great x 5 granddaughter of King Edward III of England.

Henry's two daughters Mary (age 27) and Elizabeth (age 9) attended, as did his niece Margaret Douglas Countess Lennox (age 27).

Catherine's sister Anne (age 28) attended with her husband [her husband] William Herbert 1st Earl Pembroke (age 42).

Around 1547 [her son] Edward Herbert was born to [her husband] William Herbert 1st Earl Pembroke (age 46) and Anne Parr Countess Pembroke (age 31) at Welshpool [Map].

In 1550 [her daughter] Anne Herbert was born to [her husband] William Herbert 1st Earl Pembroke (age 49) and Anne Parr Countess Pembroke (age 34).

Edward VI's 14th Birthday

11 Oct 1551, the day before his fourteenth birthday, King Edward VI (age 13) celebrated at Hampton Court Palace [Map] by rewarding his guardians; it may have been a case of his guardians rewarding themselves.

John Dudley 1st Duke Northumberland (age 47), leader of the Council, was created 1st Duke Northumberland. Jane Guildford Duchess Northumberland (age 42) by marriage Duchess Northumberland. His son Henry Dudley (age 25) was knighted.

Henry Grey 1st Duke of Suffolk (age 34) was created 1st Duke Suffolk for having married King Edward VI's (age 13) first cousin Frances Brandon Duchess of Suffolk (age 34). Frances Brandon Duchess of Suffolk (age 34) by marriage Duchess Suffolk.

William Paulet (age 68), Master of the Kings Wards, was created 1st Marquess Winchester. Elizabeth Capell Marchioness Winchester by marriage Marchioness Winchester.

His guardian [her husband] William Herbert (age 50) was created 1st Earl Pembroke. Anne Parr Countess Pembroke (age 36) by marriage Countess Pembroke.

Edward Seymour 1st Duke Somerset (age 51), the King's (age 13) uncle attended.

Henry Dudley (age 25) was knighted at Hampton Court Palace, Richmond [Map].

On 20 Feb 1552 Anne Parr Countess Pembroke (age 36) died at Baynard's Castle [Map]. She was buried at St Paul's Cathedral [Map].

After 20 Feb 1552 [her former husband] William Herbert 1st Earl Pembroke (age 51) and Anne Talbot Countess Pembroke (age 28) were married. She by marriage Countess Pembroke. The difference in their ages was 22 years. She the daughter of George Talbot 4th Earl of Shrewsbury and Elizabeth Walden (age 61). She a great x 4 granddaughter of King Edward III of England.

Henry Machyn's Diary. 28 Feb 1552. The xxviij day of Feybruarii was bered the nobull [lady the] contes of Penbroke (deceased), and syster to the [her sister] late qwyne and wyffe [to the] nobull Kyng Henry the viij. late kyng, and the good lade [the] contes of Penbroke the wyche she ded at Benard Castle [Map], and so cared unto Powlls. Ther was a C. [Note. 100] powre men and women had mantylle fryse gownes, then cam the haroldes, [then] the corse, and a-bowt her viij baners rolls of armes, and then cam the mornars boyth lordes and knyghts and gentyll men, and then cam the lades mornars and gentyll women mornars ij C. [then the] gentyll men and gentyll women, and after cam in cotts ij C. servandes and odur servandes, and she was bered by the tombe of [the duke] of Lankaster [Note. At St Paul's Cathedral [Map]], and after her banars wher sett up over her [and her] armes sett on dyvers pelers,-the vj King Edward vjth.

Note. Funeral of the countess of Pembroke. King Edward in his Diary records the death of the countess of Pembroke on the 20th Feb. 1551–2. As sister to queen Katharine Parr, she was a person of high consideration. A magnificent canopied monument to William Herbert, earl of Pembroke, and his countess Anne, with their recumbent effigies, and kneeling effigies of their three children, Henry earl of Pembroke, sir Edward Herbert knt. and Anne lady Talbot, was erected in St. Paul's cathedral, next the monument of John of Ghent, duke of Lancaster, and is represented in a plate of Dugdale's History of St. Paul's.

On 17 Mar 1570 [her former husband] William Herbert 1st Earl Pembroke (age 69) died at Hampton Court Palace, Richmond [Map]. His son [her son] Henry Herbert 2nd Earl Pembroke (age 32) succeeded 2nd Earl Pembroke. Catherine Talbot Countess Pembroke (age 20) by marriage Countess Pembroke.

George Herbert and Elizabeth Berkeley were married. She a great x 4 granddaughter of King Edward III of England.
