Biography of Benjamin Mildmay 1st Earl Fitzwalter 1672-1756

Before 24 Mar 1662 [his uncle] Henry Mildmay 16th Baron Fitzwalter (age 17) died. He was buried on 24 Mar 1662. His brother [his father] Benjamin Mildmay 17th Baron Fitzwalter (age 16) succeeded 17th Baron Fitzwalter.

On 06 Dec 1669 [his father] Benjamin Mildmay 17th Baron Fitzwalter (age 23) and [his mother] Catherine Fairfax (age 25) were married.

On 27 Dec 1672 Benjamin Mildmay 1st Earl Fitzwalter was born to Benjamin Mildmay 17th Baron Fitzwalter (age 26) and Catherine Fairfax (age 28).

On 18 Jun 1724 Benjamin Mildmay 1st Earl Fitzwalter (age 51) and Frederica Schomberg Countess Holderness and Fitzwalter (age 37) were married. She the daughter of Meinhart Schomberg 3rd Duke Schomberg and Karoline von der Pfalz. She a great x 2 granddaughter of King James I of England and Ireland and VI of Scotland.

On 20 Mar 1725 [his mother] Catherine Fairfax (age 81) died.

In 1728 [his brother] Charles Mildmay 18th Baron Fitzwalter (age 58) died without issue. His brother Benjamin Mildmay 1st Earl Fitzwalter (age 55) succeeded 19th Baron Fitzwalter. [his wife] Frederica Schomberg Countess Holderness and Fitzwalter (age 41) by marriage Baroness Fitzwalter.

In 1730 Benjamin Mildmay 1st Earl Fitzwalter (age 57) was created 1st Earl Fitzwalter, 1st Viscount Harwich Essex. [his wife] Frederica Schomberg Countess Holderness and Fitzwalter (age 43) by marriage Countess Fitzwalter.

In 1735 Benjamin Mildmay 1st Earl Fitzwalter (age 62) was appointed to the Privy Council and as First Lord of Trade.

In 1737 Benjamin Mildmay 1st Earl Fitzwalter (age 64) was appointed Treasurer of the Household.

In 1741 Benjamin Mildmay 1st Earl Fitzwalter (age 68) was appointed Lord Lieutenant of Essex.

On 07 Aug 1751 [his wife] Frederica Schomberg Countess Holderness and Fitzwalter (age 64) died.

On 29 Feb 1756 Benjamin Mildmay 1st Earl Fitzwalter (age 83) died. Earl Fitzwalter, Viscount Harwich Essex extinct. Baron Fitzwalter abeyant between the issue of his aunt [his aunt] Mary Mildmay. The abeyance was terminated 30 Sep 1924 after nearly 169 years in favour of one of the co-heirs Henry FitzWalter Plumptre 20th Baron FitzWalter.
