Biography of Henry Hobart 1st Baronet 1560-1625

Paternal Family Tree: Hobart

Before 05 Nov 1459 Blickling Hall, Norfolk [Map] was in the possession of John Fastolf (age 79).

John Fastolf (age 79) sold it to Geoffrey Boleyn (age 53) who made it his country seat.

The estate passed to Alice Boleyn who married Robert Clere (age 13). Their grandson Edward Clere ran into debt and sold the estate to Henry Hobart 1st Baronet.

Around 1552 [his father] Thomas Hobart (age 15) and [his mother] Audrey Hare (age 11) were married.

Around 1560 [his step-father] Edward Warner (age 49) and [his mother] Audrey Hare (age 19) were married. The difference in their ages was 30 years.

Around 1560 Henry Hobart 1st Baronet was born to Thomas Hobart (age 23) and Audrey Hare (age 19).

On 26 Mar 1560 [his father] Thomas Hobart (age 23) died.

On 01 Jul 1569 [his step-father] William Blennerhassett (age 49) and [his mother] Audrey Hare (age 28) were married. The difference in their ages was 21 years.

On 16 Jul 1581 [his mother] Audrey Hare (age 40) died.

On 21 Apr 1590 Henry Hobart 1st Baronet (age 30) and Dorothy Bell Lady Hobart were married.

On 19 Apr 1593 [his son] John Hobart 2nd Baronet was born to Henry Hobart 1st Baronet (age 33) and [his wife] Dorothy Bell Lady Hobart in Norwich, Norfolk [Map].

On 12 Apr 1595 [his son] Miles Hobart was born to Henry Hobart 1st Baronet (age 35) and [his wife] Dorothy Bell Lady Hobart in Plumstead, Greenwich.

On 25 Nov 1602 [his brother-in-law] John Peyton of Doddington (age 23) and Alice Peyton (age 16) were married. They were second cousin once removed.

In 1603 Henry Hobart 1st Baronet (age 43) was knighted.

After 1605. The current Blickling Hall, Norfolk [Map] was built by Robert Lyminge after 1605 for Henry Hobart 1st Baronet (age 45). The estate passed through the Hobart family to John Hobart 2nd Earl Buckinghamshire. It then passed to his daughter Caroline Hobart Baroness Suffield who was married to William Assheton Harbord 2nd Baron Suffield. The couple did not have any issue. The estate then passed to Caroline's great-nephew William Schomberg Kerr 8th Marquess Lothian; grandson son of her sister Harriet Hobart Viscountess Belmore.

William Schomberg Kerr 8th Marquess Lothian: In 1832 he was born to John Kerr 7th Marquess Lothian and Cecil Chetwynd-Talbot Marchioness Lothian. On 14 Nov 1841 John Kerr 7th Marquess Lothian died at Blickling Hall, Norfolk. His son William Schomberg Kerr 8th Marquess Lothian succeeded 8th Marquess Lothian. He inherited the Blickling, Norfolk estate and made significant changes. On 12 Aug 1857 William Schomberg Kerr 8th Marquess Lothian and Constance Harriet Mahonesa Talbot Marchioness Lothian were married. She by marriage Marchioness Lothian. She the daughter of Henry John Chetwynd-Talbot 3rd Earl Talbot 18th Earl of Shrewsbury and Sarah Elizabeth Beresford Countess Talbot Shrewsbury Waterford. He the son of John Kerr 7th Marquess Lothian and Cecil Chetwynd-Talbot Marchioness Lothian. They were first cousins.

Around 1606 [his son-in-law] Robert Crane 1st Baronet (age 20) and [his daughter] Dorothy Hobart were married.

On or before 22 Dec 1607 [his brother-in-law] Edmund Bell (age 45) died. He was buried on 22 Dec 1607. His heirs sold the manor of South Acre, Norfolk to Edward Barkham (age 37).

In Feb 1621 [his son] John Hobart 2nd Baronet (age 27) and [his daughter-in-law] Frances Egerton Lady Hobart were married. She the daughter of John Egerton 1st Earl Bridgewater (age 42) and Frances Stanley Countess Bridgewater (age 38). She a great x 4 granddaughter of King Henry VII of England and Ireland.

On 29 Dec 1625 Henry Hobart 1st Baronet (age 65) died. He was buried at St Andrew's Church, Blickling [Map].
