In 1813 John Peter Boileau 1st Baronet (age 18) joined the British Army and was commissioned as 2nd lieutenant into the Rifle Corps, which his uncle Major-General Coote Manningham, husband of his mother's sister [his aunt] Anna Maria Pollen (age 30), had established.

In 1825 John Peter Boileau 1st Baronet (age 30) and Catherine Sarah Elliot-Murray-Kynynmound Lady Boileau (age 27) were married. They had four sons and five daughters. She the daughter of Gilbert Elliot 1st Earl Minto and Anna-Maria Amyand Countess Minto (age 72).
