Biography of Patrick Blake 1st Baronet 1742-1784

Around 1742 Patrick Blake 1st Baronet was born to Andrew Blake of St Kitts and Montserrat and Marcella French of Ireland.

In 1745 [his grandfather] Patrick Blake of St Kitts died. His grandson Patrick Blake 1st Baronet (age 3) inherited his estates including those in St Kitts aka St Christopher's Island; it isn't clear why his son [his father] Andrew Blake of St Kitts and Montserrat didn't?

On 18 Aug 1760 Patrick Blake 1st Baronet (age 18) was admitted to St John's College, Cambridge University [Map].

On 14 Apr 1762 Patrick Blake 1st Baronet (age 20) and Annabella Bunbury (age 17) were married.

On 02 Jun 1762 [his brother-in-law] Thomas Charles Bunbury 6th Baronet (age 22) and Sarah Lennox Lady Bunbury (age 17) were married. The marriage was dissolved in Feb 1769 since she had had a child with William Gordon (age 18) in 1768. The decree for divorce was issued on 14 May 1776. One of her daughters with Colonel George Napier (age 11), Emily Louisa Augusta Napier Lady Bunbury, would subsequently marry Charles Bunbury's nephew and heir Henry Edward Bunbury 7th Baronet. She the daughter of Charles Lennox 2nd Duke Richmond and Sarah Cadogan Duchess Richmond. She a great granddaughter of King Charles II of England Scotland and Ireland.

In 1764 [his father-in-law] William Bunbury 5th Baronet (age 54) died. His son [his brother-in-law] Thomas Charles Bunbury 6th Baronet (age 23) succeeded 6th Baronet Bunbury of Bunbury in Oxfordshire and Stanney Hall in Cheshire. Sarah Lennox Lady Bunbury (age 18) by marriage Lady Bunbury of Bunbury in Oxfordshire and Stanney Hall in Cheshire.

Around 1767 [his daughter] Annabella Blake was born to Patrick Blake 1st Baronet (age 25) and [his wife] Annabella Bunbury (age 21).

Around 1768 [his son] Patrick Blake 2nd Baronet was born to Patrick Blake 1st Baronet (age 26) and [his wife] Annabella Bunbury (age 22).

In 1768 Patrick Blake 1st Baronet (age 26) was elected MP Sudbury which seat he held until 1774.

Around 1770 [his son] James Henry Blake 3rd Baronet was born to Patrick Blake 1st Baronet (age 28) and [his wife] Annabella Bunbury (age 24).

In Aug 1771 [his brother-in-law] Henry William Bunbury (age 21) and Catherine Horneck (age 21) were married.

On 08 Oct 1772 Patrick Blake 1st Baronet (age 30) was created 1st Baronet Blake of Langham in Suffolk.

On 22 Mar 1775 Patrick Blake 1st Baronet (age 33) was elected MP Sudbury on petition which seat he held he stood down in 1784.

In 1776 [his wife] Annabella Bunbury (age 30), wife of Patrick Blake 1st Baronet (age 34), left her husband for George Boscawen (age 30) with whom she then travelled to France. She and her husband were divorced in 1778.

On 01 Jul 1784 Patrick Blake 1st Baronet (age 42) died. His son [his son] Patrick Blake 2nd Baronet (age 16) succeeded 2nd Baronet Blake of Langham in Suffolk.
