In 1695 William Monson 4th Baronet (age 40) was elected MP Lincoln and sat until 1698.

In 1702 and 1705 William Monson 4th Baronet (age 50) was elected MP Heytesbury unopposed.
In 1708 William Monson 4th Baronet (age 53) was elected MP Hertford which seat he held until defeated in 1710.
On 16 Apr 1715 William Monson 4th Baronet (age 61) was elected MP Aldborough at a by-election which seat he held until 1722 when he stood down.
On 06 Apr 1718 [his brother] Henry Monson 3rd Baronet (age 64) died. His brother William Monson 4th Baronet (age 64) succeeded 4th Baronet Monson of Carleton in Lincolnshire.
On 07 Mar 1727 William Monson 4th Baronet (age 73) died without issue. His nephew John Monson 1st Baron Monson (age 34) succeeded 5th Baronet Monson of Carleton in Lincolnshire.
