William de Pakington, Clerk and Tresorer of Prince Edwardes, Sunne to Edwarde the 3. Household yn Gascoyne, did wryte a Cronique yn Freuche from the IX. Yere of King John of Englande on to his tyme, and dedicated it to his Lord Prince Edwarde. Owte of an Epitome in French of this afore sayde Cronique I translatid carptim thes thinges that folow yn to Englische.
In the Yere of onr Lorde 1213 owr Lady Chirch yn Southwerk [Map] was brent, and the Bridge of London with the Chapel and al the houses on it, and a Parte of the Toune withalle.

[March 1400] Richard late Kinge first prisonid in the Tour of London, after yn the Castel of Leedes, and lafte yn Pontfractle.

[24th January 1407] In the VIII Yere of King Henry Dame Luce [Lucia Visconti Countess Kent (age 27)], the Dukes of Milaine Syster, cam to London, and there was weddid to Edmunde Holand (age 23) Erle of Kent in the Priory of S. Mary Overeys [Map], and the Fest was kept in the Bishop of Winchester’s Place.
[12th July 1450] One Iden, a Squier of Kent, toke Jak Cade (age 30) in a Garden in Southfax, an ther slew hym.
[23rd September 1459] The Erle of Salisbyri (age 59), accumpanied with Syr Thomas (age 29) and Syr John (age 28) Neville his Sunnes, wan the Feeld at Bloreheth, and slew the Lord Andeley (age 61), and many Gentiles of Chestreshire.
The Erle of Salisbyris Sunnes were both hurte at Blorehethfeld, and after goyng homeward taken by the Quenes Mene, and brought to Chester.
[12th October 1459] Anno D. 1459 & reg. Henr. 38. the Duke of York, the Erle of Warwike, and Salisbyri, seyng all thinges to be rulid by the Queene, and the Noble Men despisid, and standing yn Jeopardy of Life, gatherid an Hoste, and cam to Ludlo, to the whlch the Erle of Warwick resortid from Calays, and One Andrew Trollope, a stoute Warrior, with hym, yn whom he much trustid.
Andrew Trollop and the old Soldiours of Calais left the Duke of York, and the Erle of Warwik, and went to the Kinges Campe.
Then fledde the Duke of York with his second Sunne by Wales into Ireland, and the Erles of Salisbyri, and the Erle of March, in to Devonshire, and ther one Deneham, an Esquier, gat them a Ship for a 220 Nobles, and thens he sailid into Garnesey, and after was receivid in to the Castel of Calays.
Then the King entered Ludlo Toune and Castelle, and dispoilid them. And taking the Duches of York with her Childerne sent her to my Lady of Bokingham her Sister, where she was kept many dayes.
[10th July 1460] The Erles of March, Warwick, and Salisbyri cam from Calays ro Dovar, and so to London and Northampton, and there faute with owte the Toun, where the Duke of Bokingham, the Erle of Shrobbesbyri, the Vicoimt Beaumont, the Lorde Egremont were slayn, and many Knighttes and Squyers with other, and the King taken Prisoner.
[Around 27th June 1461] Edward at his Coronation creatid his Brother George Duke of Clarance, and Richard the younger Duke of Glocester; the Lord Montacute, the Erle of Warwikes Brother, the Erle of Northumbreland, William Stafford Esquier Lord Staford of Southwike, Syr Herbart Lord Herbart, and after Erle of Penbroke, and the saide Lorde Staford Erle of Devonshire, the Lord Gray of Ruthine Erle of Kent, the Lorde Bourchier, Erle of Effex, the Lord John of Bokingham Erle of Wyleshire, Syr Thomas Blunt Knight the Lord Montjoye, Syr John Haward Lord Haward, Willyam Haftinges Lord Hastinges and greate Chambrelayn, and the Lorde Ryvers, Denham Esquyer Lorde Deneham, and Worthy as is afore shewid.
King Henry, and al that fled with hym yn to Scotland, atteintid by Parlament.
Henry, the Duke of Excestre, and the Duke of Somersete, and other Lordes that fled, had kepte Alnewike, Banborow, Dunstanburgh, Werkworth, and mannid and intailid them.
Syr Peers le Brafile, the great Warriour of Normandy, cam to help Quene Margaret with French Men, and xx.M. Scottes, and to remeve Kinge Edwardes Men from Alnewik Sige, and the Residew of other Castelles ther.By this meane both Edwardes Men were aferde of the Scottes, as recoiling from the Siege; and the Scottes aferd of Edwardes Men left they had recoylid to bring them to a Trap.And Henry's Men, ifssuyng owte of to much Boldnes, gave Edwardes Men Oportunite to enter into the Castel.
[July 1464] Henry Duke of Somerset delyverid Bamburgh to King Edward by Apoyntement, and so he cam yn to King Edwardes Grace: which grauntid hym a M. Markes by Yere, wher of he was not payde.
Thus Edwarde possessid al England and Wales, save Harlake that Syr Richarde Tunstal kept, but after gotten by the Lord Herbert.
[May 1464] The 4. Yere of King Edwarde the Erle of Warwike was sent in to Fraunce to conclude a Mariage with the French Doughter Kinges a Sister [Daughter] for King Edward, and so he did.But yn the meane while King Edwarde maried Elifabeth Gray, Wife fumtyme to Syr John Gray, slayne at Yorke Feld on King Henry's Party.This Elifabeth was Doughtter to the Lord Ryvers.
After this Wedding the Erle of Warwik and the King Edward never lovid together.
King Edward toke the Cancellarship from the Bisshop of Excester, Brother to the Erle of Warwike, and gave it to the Bisshop of Bath.
[15th May 1464] In this 4. Yere of Edward, in the Monith of May, the Duke of Somerset, the Lord Roos, the Lord Molynes, Talbois Erle of Kime, Syr Philip Wenteworth, Syr Thomas Fynderne, gatherid an Hoste in the North Cuntre.And Syr John Nevil, Erle then of Northumbreland, with x.M. Men cam apon them, whom the Commons forsakid and then the Capitaynes were taken and behedid.
King Edward ferid then the Lord Montacute, the Erle of Warwikes Brother, whom he had made Erle of Northumbrelande, and so prively caufid Men of the Countery to defire the rightful Heyre Percy, Sun to Henry that was slayne at York Felde: and fo Percy was restorid, and made Montacute a Marquis, and his Sunne Duke of Bedforde, which Monteacute should wedde the Kinges eldest Doughtter, which by Poffibilite should be King of Englande.
[24th July 1465] In anno D. 1464. King Henry was taken yn Cletherwoode, byside Bungerley Hippingstones in Lancastreshyre, by Thomas Talbot, Sunne and Heire to Syr Edmunde Talbot of Basfhal, and John Talbot his Cosyn of Colebry, which deceivid hym beyng at his Dyner at Wadington Haul, and brought hym to London with his Legges bounde to the Stiroppes.
In the v.Yere of King Edwarde the Yerle of Oxford, and the Lord Albery his Sunne, and Syr Thomas Todnam Knight, were jugid by the Erle of Wicester, and behedid at Tour Hille.
In the vi.Yere was the Lord Hungreford behedid at Salifbyri.
And this Yere was Syr Thomas Hungreford Knight, Sunne to the Lorde Hungreford, and Henry Curteney of right Erle of Devenshire, behedid at Salisbyri.Lorde Staforde of Southwike procurid Curteneis Deeth to be made Erle of Devonshir, and was.
[11th July 1469] In the ix.Yere the Duke of Clarance went to Calays, and there weddid the Erle of Warwikes Doughtter by the Archebishop of York, the Erle of Warwikes Brother.
[24th July 1469] Syr William Conyers Knight caullid hymself Robyn of Rydefdale, and gatherid an Host of xx.M. Men yn the North.
The Lorde Herbert Erle of Penbroke cam with 18. thousand Walsch Men, and Lord Staforde of Southwike, newly made Erle of Devonshire, cam with syx M. Men agayne Robyn of Rydefdale.
The Erle of Devonshir faulling at Debate with the Erle of Penbrok for Logging lefte hym, and Robyn of Rydefdale mette with the Erle of Penbroke, and flew 2. M. Staford, late made Erle of Devonshire, was by the Commons taken at Brige Water, and behedid.
[After 26th July 1469] King Edward taken by a Trayne at Uluay Village by fide Northampton by the Bisshop of York, and after brought to Warwike Caftel, and thens to York, wher, be fair Wordes and Promises, he escapid owt of the Bisshops Hand, and cam to London.
[29th September 1469] The fame Yere the 29. of Septembre Humfrey Neville Knight, and Charles his Brother were taken by the Erle of Warwike, and behedid at York, the King beyng present.
[March 1470] In the x.Yere of King Edwarde in Marche Monith, the Feeld, alias Lorde Willoughby, the Lorde Welles his Sunne, Syr Thomas Thomas De.Delalande Knight, Syr Thomas Dymmok Knight the King Champion, drafe out of Lincolnshire Syr Thomas Burg, a Knight of the Kinges House, pullid doune his Place, and toke al his Goodes, and Cataylles, and gatherid a 30. Thousand of the Commons, and cryed, " King Henry." The Duke of Clarence, and the Erle of Warwike were cause of this, as they were of Banbyri Feld.The King Edwarde gave Lord Willoughby his Pardon, and fent for hym, and havyng hym in Custodye commaundid him, payne of Deth, to cause the Lincolnshir Men to ley doune theyr Host, and fo he writ: but yn vayn.Wherapon Lord Willoughbys Hed was smit of.And King Edward set on the Lincolnshir Men, and sparkelid them with his Ordinaunce, and flew many of the Commons.
The Lorde Welles, Syr Thomas Delaland, and Syr Thomas Dymmok were taken, and behedid.Then the Duke of Clarence and the Erle of Warwick fledde to the See side, and and thens saylid to Southampton, wher they had thought to have had the Trinite, a greate Ship of the Erles of Warwike, but the Lorde Scales, the Quenes Brother, ther faught with them, and they fled to Fraunce.
[May 1470] Then cam King Edward to Hampton, and caufid the Erle of Wicestre to fit yn Jugement of certen Gentilmen, taken at the Skirmouch of Southampton, wher the Erle caufid the Bodyes of certen condemnid Men, after they wer hangid, to be thruste thorough the Fundament up to the Hed with Stakes.For the which Cruelte he fel yn Indignation of the Common People.
[22nd July 1470] A Mariage was made betwixte Prince Edwarde, Henry the VI.and Quene Margaretes Sun, and a nother Doughtter of the Erle of Warwikes.And at this Mariage yn Fraunce it was concludid, that King Henry should reigne agayne, and Prince Edwarde and his Heires after hym, and, for lak of Heyres of the King Henry, and Prince Edwarde, that George Duke of Clarence, and his Heires, should enjoy the Croune.And at this Mariage and Lege it was agreed, that Henry Duke of Excestre, Edmunde Duke of Somerset, Brother to Henry that was flayn at Hexham Feld, and that Courteney Erle of Devonshir, and al other Knightes and Esquiers that were attaintid for taking King Henrys Part, should repossesse their Landes.
This x.Yere of Edwarde the Duke of Clarence, and Erle of Warwike, aboute Michelmes, landid in the West Cuntery, and gatherid People.
This tyme Marquis Montacute had gatherid a vi.M. Men yn King Edwardes Name, and cumming nere King Edward, told them how Edwarde had fervid hym, first making hym Erle of Northumbreland, and after gyving it to Percy, and after making hym Marquis Montacute, gyving hym a Pyes Nest to maintein it with al.Wherfor he signified, that he wold take the Erle of Warwik his Brothers Part.King Edwarde hering of this, went to Lynne with the Lorde Haftinges his Chamberlayne, the Lord Say, and other Knighttes, and went to the Duke of Burgoyne his Brother yn Law.
[13th September 1470] In the Monith of Octobre anno D. 1470. the Bisshop of Winchester, the Duke of Claraunce, and the Erle of Warwike took King Henry, that was right coursely kept, owte of the Toure of London, and bringging to Westminstre, restorid hym to his Kingly Dignite.Yet had the People much hatid afore King Henry for the Death of Humfrey Duke of Glocester, and the poyfening of John Holande Duke of Excester.But il Officers did this whom Innocent Henry did truste.
[18th October 1470] At this Parlament was arrestid the Erle of Wicestre, and jugid by Syr John Vere Erle of Oxford to Deth, and was behedid at Tour Hille, and was buried at the Blake Freres of London.This tyme fledde Quene Elizabeth owt of the Toure of London with her Childern to Westminstre, and there was brought a bedde of Prince Edwarde.
[14th March 1471] In the XLIX, Yere of King Henry the VI.cam King Edward with the Lord Hastinges, the Lord Say, and ix.C. Englisch Men, and iii.C. Fleminges with hange Gunnes, and wold have landid in Essax, and there the Erle of Oxfordes Brother put hym of.And after he landid fore wether beten yn Ravenspurge in Yorkshire.And ther rose on hym Holdrenes Men a whos Syr John Westerdale a Preste after cafte into the Mareschal Se at London.And as Edward passid the Countery he sheuid the Erle of Northumbrelandes Lettre and Seale that fent for hym, saying stil, that he cam to clayme no Title of the Croune, but only his Dukedom of York: nor wold not have done afore, but at the exciting of the Erle of Warwik, and cryed yn every Place, "King Henry and Prince Edwarde", wering an Ostriche Fether, Prince Edwardes Livery.
After that Edward cam to Notingham, Syr William of Standeley brought hym a 400. Men.And Syr William Norres, and divers of the Lordes Hastinges Tenantes, brought hym Men, so that he was then a 4. M. Men, or mo.
Then Edward marchid toward Leircester, where the Erle of Warwike and Marquis Monteacute had a 4. M. Men or mo, and offerid to fight with them.And there the Erle of Warwik had faught with hym, but that he had receyvid a Lettre from the Duke of Clarance that he should not fight on til he cam.
So the Erle of Warwik kept Leircester stil, and fufferid Edward to marche toward London.
A litle oute of Warwik the Duke of Claraunce met King Edward with 7. M. Men; and there they agreyd.And al the Promises that the Duke of Claraunce made in Fraunce were clene broken.
And Edwarde having preavy Intelligence in London enterid by Urfewike the Recorders Consent and other Mennes yn to the Bisshops Palays of London by a Posterne, and there toke King Henry, and the Archebisshop of Yorke, and fent them booth to warde on Maunday Thursday.The Archebisshop of Cantorbyri, the Erle of Essax, the Lorde Bernes holp King Eduard at London.
[14th April 1471] The Erle of Warwik, the Duke of Excester, the Marquis Montacute, and the Erle of Oxford, with many Knighttes, were cumming with their Host toward Barnet.
Edward hard of this toke King Henry with hym, and preoccupatid the Toune of Barnet, and that Night the Erle of Warwik and his remaynid on the Playne with oute the Toune, and shotte Gunnes al Night one at the other.And on the xiiii.Day of Aprille then being Ester Day they faught in a thik Mift from iiii, of Clok in the Morning til x.And diverse tymes the Erle of Warwikes Men supposid that they had had the Victory of the Feld .
It happenid that the Erle of Oxfords Men had a Starre with Streames booth before and behind on their Lyverys.
And King Edwardes Men had the Sunne with Streames on theyr Lyvery.
The Erle of Warwikes Men, by reason of the Miste, not welle discerning the Bages so like, shot at the Erle of Oxfordes Men that wer on theyr oune Party.And then the Erle of Oxford and his Men cryid, " Treason ", and fledde from the Feld with viii.C. Men.
The Marquis Montacute was prively agreid with King Edwarde, and had gotten on King Eduardes Lyvery.One of the Erle of Warwike his Brother servant espying this, fel apon hym, and killid hym.
Then the Erle of Warwik seyng this, lept on a Horse to fly, and cumming to a Woode, wher was no Passage, one of King Edwardes Men cam to hym, and killid hym, and dispoilid hym, leving hym nakid.
Syr William Tyrel Knight was killid on the Erle of Warwikes Parte.
The Duke of Excestre faughte manly, and was despoilid, wounddid, and lefte for dede fro 7. yn the Morning to 4.of the Clok at After none.And than was he brough to a Servantes House therby of his caullid Rutheland, and had a Leeche, and after was conveiyd yn to Westminstre to Sanctuary.
The Lorde Crumwel, Sun and Heire to the Erle of Essax, the Lorde Barnes Sun and Heyre, the Lorde Say were flayn on King Edwardes Party.
There were flayn on booth Parties to the Numbre of 4000.
The Erle of Warwikes and his Brother Montacutes Bodies were layid nakid in S. Paulis Chirch at London to be feene.
King Henry was brought to the Toure agayne.

The Chronicle of Geoffrey le Baker of Swinbroke. Baker was a secular clerk from Swinbroke, now Swinbrook, an Oxfordshire village two miles east of Burford. His Chronicle describes the events of the period 1303-1356: Gaveston, Bannockburn, Boroughbridge, the murder of King Edward II, the Scottish Wars, Sluys, Crécy, the Black Death, Winchelsea and Poitiers. To quote Herbert Bruce 'it possesses a vigorous and characteristic style, and its value for particular events between 1303 and 1356 has been recognised by its editor and by subsequent writers'. The book provides remarkable detail about the events it describes. Baker's text has been augmented with hundreds of notes, including extracts from other contemporary chronicles, such as the Annales Londonienses, Annales Paulini, Murimuth, Lanercost, Avesbury, Guisborough and Froissart to enrich the reader's understanding. The translation takes as its source the 'Chronicon Galfridi le Baker de Swynebroke' published in 1889, edited by Edward Maunde Thompson. Available at Amazon in eBook and Paperback.

Al thefe where they mought have efcapid taryid in the Chirch, trufling the Kinges Perdon, from Saturday to Munday yn the Morning, when they were taken out and byhedid.
After the Feeld of Twekesbyri Quene Margarete, Prince Edwardes Wife the feconde Doughtter to the Erle of Warwike, the Countes of Devonfhire Dame Catarine Vaus, were taken. And thefe Men of Name were taken, and not flayn, Syr John Fortefcue, Syr John Sainctelow, Syr Henry Roos, Thomas Ormond, Doctlor Makerel, Eduard Fulforde, John Parker, John Baffet, John Walleys, John Throgmerton.
Aboute this tyme Syr Water Wrottile and Syr GefFrey Gates, Knightees of the Erle of Warwikes, wer Governors of the Towne of Calays, and fent Syr George Brooke, Knight, owte of Calays with 300. Souldiours to Thomas Baftard Faulconbridge, Capltayne of the Erle of Warwikes Navy, to rayfe the Countery of Kent, and to go to London, and take King Henry oute of the Toure of London, and to kil King Edwarde.
So Falconbridge cam to Cantorbyri, and reifid al Kent, and cam to London the v. Day of May, and there the Maire, the Aldremen, and the Lorde Scales kept them owte.
Wherfore Falconbridge fhot his Ordinaunce at the Cyte, and brent aboute London Bridge and at Algate.
Wherapon the Commons of London toke great DifPleasure: els they had let yn Falconbridge, and the Kentifchmen, fpite of the Rulars of the Cyte.
Falconbridge went from London strayte to Kingfton apon Tamise, to go Weftwarde, and to perfecute and take King Edwarde. And that was likely. For King Edward Hoile was fparkclid. And Falconbridge. had 200. fightting Menne wel harnefyd. But the Lorde Scales, with fair Wordes, found meanes, with Nicolas Faunte Mayre of Cantorbyri, that he caufid Falconbridge to returne to Blakeheth yn Kent, where, in the Night, he stale from the Hoste with 600. Horse Men to Rochefter, and so to Sandwich, wher he abode the Kinges Cumming: the which was to the Confusion of hym and his. For not long after was Falconbridge behedid by the Duke of Glocestre yn Yorkshire, not withstanding that he had his Pardon.
[21st May 1471] A none after cam King Edward to London with a 3000 Men. And the fame Night beyng the 21.
