Chronicle of Geoffrey le Baker of Swinbroke
Baker was a secular clerk from Swinbroke, now Swinbrook, an Oxfordshire village two miles east of Burford. His Chronicle describes the events of the period 1303-1356: Gaveston, Bannockburn, Boroughbridge, the murder of King Edward II, the Scottish Wars, Sluys, Crécy, the Black Death, Winchelsea and Poitiers. To quote Herbert Bruce 'it possesses a vigorous and characteristic style, and its value for particular events between 1303 and 1356 has been recognised by its editor and by subsequent writers'. The book provides remarkable detail about the events it describes. Baker's text has been augmented with hundreds of notes, including extracts from other contemporary chronicles, such as the Annales Londonienses, Annales Paulini, Murimuth, Lanercost, Avesbury, Guisborough and Froissart to enrich the reader's understanding. The translation takes as its source the 'Chronicon Galfridi le Baker de Swynebroke' published in 1889, edited by Edward Maunde Thompson.

On 11th May 1742 Claude Scott 1st Baronet was born.
On 29th April 1772 [his son] Samuel Scott 2nd Baronet was born to Claude Scott 1st Baronet [aged 29]. He married 4th February 1796 Anne Ommanney and had issue.
On 4th February 1796 [his son] Samuel Scott 2nd Baronet [aged 23] and [his daughter-in-law] Anne Ommanney were married.
In 1802 Claude Scott 1st Baronet [aged 59] was elected MP Malmesbury which seat he held until 1806.
In 1809 Claude Scott 1st Baronet [aged 66] was elected MP Dungannon which seat he held until 1812.
On 8th September 1821 Claude Scott 1st Baronet [aged 79] was created 1st Baronet Scott of Lytchet Minster in Dorset.
In 1824 [his son] Samuel Scott 2nd Baronet [aged 51] with his father Claude Scott 1st Baronet [aged 81] established the London bank of Sir Claude Scott and Company with premises at 26 Holles Street, Marylebone. In 1827 the firm moved the short distance to 1 Cavendish Square.
On 27th March 1830 Claude Scott 1st Baronet [aged 87] died. His son Samuel [aged 57] succeeded 2nd Baronet Scott of Lytchet Minster in Dorset.
