In 1292 Thomas Ughtred 1st Baron Ughtred was born to Robert Ughtred of Scarborough and Catton in Yorkshire.
In 1310 [his father] Robert Ughtred of Scarborough and Catton in Yorkshire died.
In 1319 Thomas Ughtred 1st Baron Ughtred (age 27) was appointed Governor of Scarborough Castle.
In 1324 Thomas Ughtred 1st Baron Ughtred (age 32) was knighted.
In 1325 [his son] Thomas Ughtred 2nd Baron Ughtred was born to Thomas Ughtred 1st Baron Ughtred (age 33) and [his future wife] Margaret Burden Baroness Ughtred.
Before January 1329 Thomas Ughtred 1st Baron Ughtred (age 37) and Margaret Burden Baroness Ughtred were married.
On 12th August 1332 Battle of Dupplin Moor was fought between the supporters of the infant King David II of Scotland (age 8), son of King Robert the Bruce I of Scotland, and the supporters of King Edward I of Scotland (age 49), supported by the English. The Bruce army included Robert Bruce Lord of Liddesdale and Domhnall Mar II Earl of Mar (age 39). The Balliol army included David III Strathbogie 11th Earl Atholl (age 23), Ralph Stafford 1st Earl Stafford (age 30), Thomas Ughtred 1st Baron Ughtred (age 40) and Walter Manny 1st Baron Manny (age 22). The battle is notable for being the first to use dismounted men-at-arms supported by archers; a formation that would bring repeated success to the English both in Scotland and France.
Robert Bruce Lord of Liddesdale was killed leading a charge.
Nicholas Hay (age 47) was killed.
Thomas Randolph 2nd Earl Moray was killed. His brother John (age 26) succeeded 3rd Earl Moray.
Domhnall Mar II Earl of Mar was killed.
In 1337 Thomas Ughtred 1st Baron Ughtred (age 45) was appointed Knight Banneret.
On 30th April 1343 Thomas Ughtred 1st Baron Ughtred (age 51) was created 1st Baron Ughtred. [his wife] Margaret Burden Baroness Ughtred by marriage Baroness Ughtred.
In 1345 [his son] Thomas Ughtred 2nd Baron Ughtred (age 20) and [his daughter-in-law] Catherine Mauley Countess Suffolk (age 15) were married.
In 1360 King Edward III of England (age 47) created new Garter Knights:
31st Thomas Ughtred 1st Baron Ughtred (age 68).
32nd Walter Manny 1st Baron Manny (age 50).
33rd Frank Hale.

The Chronicle of Walter of Guisborough, a canon regular of the Augustinian Guisborough Priory, Yorkshire, formerly known as The Chronicle of Walter of Hemingburgh, describes the period from 1066 to 1346. Before 1274 the Chronicle is based on other works. Thereafter, the Chronicle is original, and a remarkable source for the events of the time. This book provides a translation of the Chronicle from that date. The Latin source for our translation is the 1849 work edited by Hans Claude Hamilton. Hamilton, in his preface, says: "In the present work we behold perhaps one of the finest samples of our early chronicles, both as regards the value of the events recorded, and the correctness with which they are detailed; Nor will the pleasing style of composition be lightly passed over by those capable of seeing reflected from it the tokens of a vigorous and cultivated mind, and a favourable specimen of the learning and taste of the age in which it was framed." Before 28th May 1365 Thomas Ughtred 1st Baron Ughtred (age 73) died. He was buried at Catton Church Catton. His son [his son] Thomas (age 40) succeeded 2nd Baron Ughtred although it appears he was never summoned to Parliament. [his daughter-in-law] Catherine Mauley Countess Suffolk (age 35) by marriage Baroness Ughtred.
