Biography of Frederick I King Prussia 1657-1713

Paternal Family Tree: Hohenzollern

On 7th December 1646 [his father] Frederick William "Great Elector" Hohenzollern Elector Brandenburg (age 26) and [his mother] Luise Henriette Orange Nassau (age 19) were married at The Hague. They were half first cousin once removed.

On 11th July 1657 Frederick I King Prussia was born to Frederick William "Great Elector" Hohenzollern Elector Brandenburg (age 37) and Luise Henriette Orange Nassau (age 29).

On 18th June 1667 [his mother] Luise Henriette Orange Nassau (age 39) died.

On 13th June 1668 [his father] Frederick William "Great Elector" Hohenzollern Elector Brandenburg (age 48) and [his step-mother] Sophia Dorothea Oldenburg (age 31) were married. They were fifth cousins.

Before 1680 Frederick I King Prussia (age 22) and Elisabeth Henriëtte Hesse-Kassel (age 18) were married. She the daughter of Wilhelm "The Just" VI Hesse-Kassel and Hedwig Sophia Hohenzollern (age 56). He the son of Frederick William "Great Elector" Hohenzollern Elector Brandenburg (age 59) and Luise Henriette Orange Nassau. They were first cousins.

On 29th September 1680 [his daughter] Louise Dorothea Hohenzollern was born to Frederick I King Prussia (age 23) and [his wife] Elisabeth Henriëtte Hesse-Kassel (age 18). Coefficient of inbreeding 6.64%.

On 27th June 1683 [his wife] Elisabeth Henriëtte Hesse-Kassel (age 21) died.

Before 1685 Frederick I King Prussia (age 27) and Sophia Charlotte Hanover Queen Consort Prussia (age 16) were married. She the daughter of Ernest Augustus Hanover Elector Brunswick-Lüneburg (age 55) and Electress Sophia Palatinate Simmern (age 54). He the son of Frederick William "Great Elector" Hohenzollern Elector Brandenburg (age 64) and Luise Henriette Orange Nassau. They were second cousins. She a great granddaughter of King James I of England and Ireland and VI of Scotland.

In 1685 [his son] Frederick August Hohenzollern was born to Frederick I King Prussia (age 27) and [his wife] Sophia Charlotte Hanover Queen Consort Prussia (age 16). He a great x 2 grandson of King James I of England and Ireland and VI of Scotland. Coefficient of inbreeding 1.96%.

In 1686 [his son] Frederick August Hohenzollern (age 1) died.

On 29th April 1688 [his father] Frederick William "Great Elector" Hohenzollern Elector Brandenburg (age 68) died.

On 14th August 1688 [his son] Frederick William "Soldier King" I King Prussia was born to Frederick I King Prussia (age 31) and [his wife] Sophia Charlotte Hanover Queen Consort Prussia (age 19). He a great x 2 grandson of King James I of England and Ireland and VI of Scotland. Coefficient of inbreeding 1.96%.

In 1690 Frederick I King Prussia (age 32) was appointed 499th Knight of the Garter by King William III of England, Scotland and Ireland (age 39) and Mary Stewart II Queen England Scotland and Ireland (age 27).

On 28th December 1694 the marriage of the future [his brother-in-law] King George I (age 34) and Sophia Dorothea of Celle (age 28) was dissolved. Sophia Dorothea was named as the guilty party for "maliciously leaving her husband". She was forbidden to remarry or to see her children again; her name was removed from official documents, she was stripped of her title of Electoral Princess. She was imprisoned for life.

In 1700 [his son-in-law] Frederick I King Sweden (age 23) and [his daughter] Louise Dorothea Hohenzollern (age 19) were married. She the daughter of Frederick I King Prussia (age 42) and [his former wife] Elisabeth Henriëtte Hesse-Kassel. He the son of [his former brother-in-law] Charles I Landgrave Hesse-Kassel (age 45) and Maria Amalia of Courland Landgravine Hesse-Kassel (age 46). They were first cousins.

In 1701 [his brother-in-law] King George I (age 40) was appointed 509th Knight of the Garter by King William III of England, Scotland and Ireland (age 50).

On 18th January 1701 Frederick I King Prussia (age 43) was created I King Prussia. [his wife] Sophia Charlotte Hanover Queen Consort Prussia (age 32) by marriage Queen Consort Prussia.

On 1st February 1705 [his wife] Sophia Charlotte Hanover Queen Consort Prussia (age 36) died.

On 23rd December 1705 [his daughter] Louise Dorothea Hohenzollern (age 25) died in childbirth.

On 28th November 1706 [his son] Frederick William "Soldier King" I King Prussia (age 18) and [his daughter-in-law] Sophia Dorothea Hanover Queen Consort Prussia (age 19) were married. She the daughter of [his former brother-in-law] King George I (age 46) and Sophia Dorothea of Celle (age 40). He the son of Frederick I King Prussia (age 49) and [his former wife] Sophia Charlotte Hanover Queen Consort Prussia. They were first cousins. He a great x 2 grandson of King James I of England and Ireland and VI of Scotland.

The Deeds of King Henry V, or in Latin Henrici Quinti, Angliæ Regis, Gesta, is a first-hand account of the Agincourt Campaign, and subsequent events to his death in 1422. The author of the first part was a Chaplain in King Henry's retinue who was present from King Henry's departure at Southampton in 1415, at the siege of Harfleur, the battle of Agincourt, and the celebrations on King Henry's return to London. The second part, by another writer, relates the events that took place including the negotiations at Troye, Henry's marriage and his death in 1422.

On 25th February 1713 Frederick I King Prussia (age 55) died. His son [his son] Frederick (age 24) succeeded I King Prussia. [his daughter-in-law] Sophia Dorothea Hanover Queen Consort Prussia (age 25) by marriage Queen Consort Prussia.

On 29th July 1735 [his former wife] Sophia Louise Mecklenburg-Schwerin Queen Consort Prussia (age 50) died.
