The Chronicle of Geoffrey le Baker of Swinbroke. Baker was a secular clerk from Swinbroke, now Swinbrook, an Oxfordshire village two miles east of Burford. His Chronicle describes the events of the period 1303-1356: Gaveston, Bannockburn, Boroughbridge, the murder of King Edward II, the Scottish Wars, Sluys, Crécy, the Black Death, Winchelsea and Poitiers. To quote Herbert Bruce 'it possesses a vigorous and characteristic style, and its value for particular events between 1303 and 1356 has been recognised by its editor and by subsequent writers'. The book provides remarkable detail about the events it describes. Baker's text has been augmented with hundreds of notes, including extracts from other contemporary chronicles, such as the Annales Londonienses, Annales Paulini, Murimuth, Lanercost, Avesbury, Guisborough and Froissart to enrich the reader's understanding. The translation takes as its source the 'Chronicon Galfridi le Baker de Swynebroke' published in 1889, edited by Edward Maunde Thompson. Available at Amazon in eBook and Paperback.

On 15th October 1383 Hermann II Landgrave of Hesse (age 42) and Margaret Hohenzollern (age 23) were married at Kulmbach. She by marriage Landgravine Hesse. She the daughter of Frederick Hohenzollern V Burgrave Nuremburg (age 50).

On 17th January 1458 Louis I Landgrave of Hesse (age 55) died. His son Louis (age 19) succeeded I Landgrave Hesse.

On 8th November 1471 Louis II Landgrave of Hesse (age 33) died. His son William (age 5) succeeded I Landgrave Hesse.

On 11th July 1509 William II Landgrave of Hesse (age 40) died. His son Landgrave (age 4) succeeded I Landgrave Hesse.

On 8th February 1515 William I Landgrave of Hesse (age 48) died. His brother William succeeded I Landgrave Hesse.

On 21st September 1637 Landgrave William V of Hesse-Kassel (age 35) died. His son Wilhelm (age 8) succeeded VI Landgrave Hesse Kassel.

On 16th July 1663 Wilhelm "The Just" VI Hesse-Kassel (age 34) died. His son William (age 12) succeeded VII Landgrave Hesse Kassel.

In 1670 William Hesse-Kassel (age 19) died. His brother Charles (age 15) succeeded I Landgrave Hesse Kassel.

Before 29th March 1674 Charles I Landgrave Hesse-Kassel (age 19) and Maria Amalia of Courland Landgravine Hesse-Kassel (age 20) were married. She by marriage Landgravine Hesse Kassel. He the son of Wilhelm "The Just" VI Hesse-Kassel and Hedwig Sophia Hohenzollern (age 50). They were first cousins.

On 1st February 1760 William Hesse-Kassel (age 77) died. His son Frederick (age 39) succeeded II Landgrave Hesse Kassel. Mary Hanover (age 36) by marriage Landgravine Hesse Kassel.

On 31st October 1785 Frederick Hesse-Kassel (age 65) died. His son William (age 42) succeeded IX Landgrave Hesse Kassel. Electress Wilhelmina Caroline Oldenburg (age 38) by marriage Landgravine Hesse Kassel.

William Hesse-Kassel succeeded VIII Landgrave Hesse Kassel.

Wilhelm "The Just" VI Hesse-Kassel and Hedwig Sophia Hohenzollern were married. She by marriage Landgravine Hesse Kassel. He the son of Landgrave William V of Hesse-Kassel.

Landgrave William V of Hesse-Kassel succeeded V Landgrave Hesse Kassel.
