In May 1332 Reginald "Black" II Duke Guelders (age 37) and Eleanor of Woodstock Plantagenet (age 13) were married at Nijmegen [Map]. She by marriage Duchess Guelders. His second marriage; he had four daughters from his first marriage. He subsequently sent her from court to Deventer Abbey [Map] in 1336 under the pretext that she had leprosy. He subsequently tried to annul the marriage but she contested the annulment by proving she wasn't a leper. The difference in their ages was 23 years. She the daughter of King Edward II of England and Isabella of France Queen Consort England (age 37). He the son of Reginald I Count Guelders and Margaret Dampierre Duchess Gueders. They were second cousin once removed. He a great x 4 grandson of King Stephen I England.
In 1339 Reginald "Black" II Duke Guelders (age 44) was created I Duke Guelders.
On 12th October 1343 Reginald "Black" II Duke Guelders (age 48) died from a fall from a horse at Arnhem [Map]. His son Reginald (age 10) succeeded III Duke Guelders. His wife acted as Regent to her nine year old son for two years.
In 1357 William Jülich V Duke Jülich (age 58) was created I Duke Guelders. Joanna Hainault Duchess Guelders (age 42) by marriage Duchess Guelders.
In 1361 Edward Duke Guelders (age 24) succeeded Duke Guelders when he captured and imprisoned his brother Reginald III Duke Guelders (age 27).
After 24th August 1371 Reginald III Duke Guelders (age 38) was released from prison and became Duke Guelders for the brief period before his death four months later.
On 4th December 1371 Reginald III Duke Guelders (age 38) died without issue. The Duke Guelders title passed to his sisters and their husband's resulting in a war of succession with William Jülich 3rd Duke Guelders 3rd Duke Jülich (age 7), son of his sister Marie Guelders Duchess Jülich eventually succeeding.

The Chronicle of Geoffrey le Baker of Swinbroke. Baker was a secular clerk from Swinbroke, now Swinbrook, an Oxfordshire village two miles east of Burford. His Chronicle describes the events of the period 1303-1356: Gaveston, Bannockburn, Boroughbridge, the murder of King Edward II, the Scottish Wars, Sluys, Crécy, the Black Death, Winchelsea and Poitiers. To quote Herbert Bruce 'it possesses a vigorous and characteristic style, and its value for particular events between 1303 and 1356 has been recognised by its editor and by subsequent writers'. The book provides remarkable detail about the events it describes. Baker's text has been augmented with hundreds of notes, including extracts from other contemporary chronicles, such as the Annales Londonienses, Annales Paulini, Murimuth, Lanercost, Avesbury, Guisborough and Froissart to enrich the reader's understanding. The translation takes as its source the 'Chronicon Galfridi le Baker de Swynebroke' published in 1889, edited by Edward Maunde Thompson. Available at Amazon in eBook and Paperback.

In 1379 William Jülich 3rd Duke Guelders 3rd Duke Jülich (age 14) and Katherine Wittelsbach Duchess Guelders (age 17) were married. She by marriage Duchess Guelders, Duchess Guelders. She the daughter of Albert Wittelsbach I Duke Bavaria (age 42) and Margaret Silesia. He the son of William Jülich I Duke Jülich (age 52) and Marie Guelders Duchess Jülich. They were fourth cousins. She a great x 5 granddaughter of King Henry "Curtmantle" II of England.
On 16th February 1402 William Jülich 3rd Duke Guelders 3rd Duke Jülich (age 37) died at Arnhem [Map]. His brother Reinald (age 37) succeeded 4th Duke Guelders, 3rd Duke Jülich.
On 5th May 1405 Reinald Jülich 4th Duke Guelders 3rd Duke Jülich (age 40) and Marie Harcourt Duchess Guelders were married. She by marriage Duchess Guelders, Duchess Guelders. She the daughter of John Harcourt VI Count Harcourt. He the son of William Jülich I Duke Jülich and Marie Guelders Duchess Jülich.
On 25th June 1423 Reinald Jülich 4th Duke Guelders 3rd Duke Jülich (age 58) died. Arnold Egmont Duke Guelders (age 12) succeeded 3rd Duke Guelders.
In 1463 Adolf Egmont 2nd Duke Guelders (age 24) and Catherine Bourbon Duchess Guelders (age 23) were married. She by marriage Duchess Guelders. She the daughter of Charles Bourbon I Duke Bourbon and Agnes Valois Duchess Bourbon (age 58). He the son of Arnold Egmont Duke Guelders (age 52) and Catherine La Marck (age 45). They were first cousin once removed. She a great x 5 granddaughter of King Edward I of England.
On 23rd February 1473 Arnold Egmont Duke Guelders (age 62) died. His son Adolf (age 35) succeeded 2nd Duke Guelders.
On 27th June 1477 Adolf Egmont 2nd Duke Guelders (age 39) died at Tournai [Map]. He was buried at Tournai Cathedral [Map]. His son Charles (age 10) succeeded 3rd Duke Guelders.
