Around 1622 [his father] Edward Devereux 1st Baronet (age 78) died. His son Walter (age 47) succeeded 2nd Baronet Devereux of Castle Bromwich.

On 20th February 1640 [his son] Essex Devereux (age 25) drowned when attempting to cross the River Teme with a friend. He was buried at St Edburga's Church, Leigh [Map].
On 14th September 1646 Robert Devereux 3rd Earl Essex (age 55) died. He was buried at Westminster Abbey [Map]. Earl Essex extinct. His half first cousin twice removed Walter (age 71) succeeded 5th Viscount Hereford. Baron Ferrers of Chartley, Baron Bourchier abeyant.
In 1656 Walter Devereux 5th Viscount Hereford (age 81) died. His son Leicester (age 39) succeeded 6th Viscount Hereford, 3rd Baronet Devereux of Castle Bromwich. [his future daughter-in-law] Priscilla Catchpole Viscountess Hereford by marriage Viscountess Hereford.

Elizabeth Knightley Viscountess Hereford: In 1588 she was born to Thomas Knightley and Elizabeth Schuckburgh. Before 1615 Walter Devereux 5th Viscount Hereford and she were married. On 8th June 1634 Elizabeth Knightley Viscountess Hereford died.
