Deeds of King Henry V

Henrici Quinti, Angliæ Regis, Gesta, is a first-hand account of the Agincourt Campaign, and subsequent events to his death in 1422. The author of the first part was a Chaplain in King Henry's retinue who was present from King Henry's departure at Southampton in 1415, at the siege of Harfleur, the battle of Agincourt, and the celebrations on King Henry's return to London. The second part, by another writer, relates the events that took place including the negotiations at Troye, Henry's marriage and his death in 1422.

Biography of Alexander Seton 1st Earl Dunfermline 1555-1622

In 1555 Alexander Seton 1st Earl Dunfermline was born to [his father] George Seton 7th Lord Seton (age 24) and [his mother] Isobel Hamilton Lady Seton.

John Seton: he was born to George Seton 7th Lord Seton and Isobel Hamilton Lady Seton.

Margaret Seton Lady Paisley: Around 1557 she was born to George Seton 7th Lord Seton and Isobel Hamilton Lady Seton. After 16th June 1574 Claud Hamilton 1st Lord Paisley and she were married. He the son of James Hamilton 2nd Earl Arran and Margaret Douglas Duchess Châtellerault. They were third cousin once removed. In 1587 Claud Hamilton 1st Lord Paisley was created 1st Lord Paisley. She by marriage Lord Paisley. In 1616 Margaret Seton Lady Paisley died.

In 1582 [his brother] Robert Seton 1st Earl Winton (age 29) and [his sister-in-law] Margaret Montgomerie Countess Winton were married. She the daughter of Hugh Montgomerie 3rd Earl Eglinton (age 51) and Agnes Drummond Countess Eglinton (age 59). They were second cousins.

In 1586 [his father] George Seton 7th Lord Seton (age 55) died.

Before 1st July 1592 Alexander Seton 1st Earl Dunfermline (age 37) and Lillas Drummond were married.

Around 1593 [his daughter] Anne Seton was born to Alexander Seton 1st Earl Dunfermline (age 38) and [his wife] Lillas Drummond. She married her fourth cousin once removed Alexander Erskine, son of Thomas Erskine 1st Earl Kellie and Ann Ogilvy, and had issue.

On 16th November 1600 [his brother] Robert Seton 1st Earl Winton (age 47) was created 1st Earl Winton at Holyrood House, Holyrood. [his sister-in-law] Margaret Montgomerie Countess Winton by marriage Countess Winton.

Anne Boleyn. Her Life as told by Lancelot de Carle's 1536 Letter.

In 1536, two weeks after the execution of Anne Boleyn, her brother George and four others, Lancelot du Carle, wrote an extraordinary letter that described Anne's life, and her trial and execution, to which he was a witness. This book presents a new translation of that letter, with additional material from other contemporary sources such as Letters, Hall's and Wriothesley's Chronicles, the pamphlets of Wynkyn the Worde, the Memorial of George Constantyne, the Portuguese Letter and the Baga de Secrets, all of which are provided in Appendices.

On 8th May 1601 [his wife] Lillas Drummond died without issue.

After 27th October 1601 Alexander Seton 1st Earl Dunfermline (age 46) and Grizel Leslie Countess Dunfermline were married. They were fourth cousin once removed.

In 1602 [his daughter] Lilias Seton was born to Alexander Seton 1st Earl Dunfermline (age 47) and [his wife] Grizel Leslie Countess Dunfermline.

On the 22nd or 24th March 1603 [his brother] Robert Seton 1st Earl Winton (age 50) died. His son [his nephew] Robert (age 18) succeeded 2nd Earl Winton.

On 15th August 1604 and 16th August 1604 Prince Charles (age 3) and Alexander Seton (age 49) lodged at the Leicester townhouse of William Skipwith (age 40) on their way to London.

In 1605 Alexander Seton 1st Earl Dunfermline (age 50) was created 1st Earl Dunfermline. [his wife] Grizel Leslie Countess Dunfermline by marriage Countess Dunfermline.

Around 1606 [his daughter] Jean Seton was born to Alexander Seton 1st Earl Dunfermline (age 51) and [his wife] Grizel Leslie Countess Dunfermline. She married 5th April 1624 her third cousin John Hay 1st Earl Tweeddale and had issue.

On 6th September 1606 [his wife] Grizel Leslie Countess Dunfermline died.

Chronicle of Walter of Guisborough

A canon regular of the Augustinian Guisborough Priory, Yorkshire, formerly known as The Chronicle of Walter of Hemingburgh, describes the period from 1066 to 1346. Before 1274 the Chronicle is based on other works. Thereafter, the Chronicle is original, and a remarkable source for the events of the time. This book provides a translation of the Chronicle from that date. The Latin source for our translation is the 1849 work edited by Hans Claude Hamilton. Hamilton, in his preface, says: 'In the present work we behold perhaps one of the finest samples of our early chronicles, both as regards the value of the events recorded, and the correctness with which they are detailed; Nor will the pleasing style of composition be lightly passed over by those capable of seeing reflected from it the tokens of a vigorous and cultivated mind, and a favourable specimen of the learning and taste of the age in which it was framed.'

In 1611 [his daughter] Mary Seton was born to Alexander Seton 1st Earl Dunfermline (age 56) and [his wife] Margaret Hay Countess Dunfermline.

On 16th February 1612 [his son-in-law] David Lindsay 1st Lord Balcarres (age 24) and [his daughter] Sophia Seton were married. She the daughter of Alexander Seton 1st Earl Dunfermline (age 57) and [his former wife] Lillas Drummond.

In November 1615 [his son] Charles Seton 2nd Earl Dunfermline was born to Alexander Seton 1st Earl Dunfermline (age 60) and [his wife] Margaret Hay Countess Dunfermline. He married his fourth cousin Mary Douglas Countess Dunfermline, daughter of William Douglas 7th Earl Morton and Anne Keith Countess Morton, and had issue.

On 16th June 1622 Alexander Seton 1st Earl Dunfermline (age 67) died. His son Charles (age 6) succeeded 2nd Earl Dunfermline.

Jean de Waurin's Chronicle of England Volume 6 Books 3-6: The Wars of the Roses

Jean de Waurin was a French Chronicler, from the Artois region, who was born around 1400, and died around 1474. Waurin’s Chronicle of England, Volume 6, covering the period 1450 to 1471, from which we have selected and translated Chapters relating to the Wars of the Roses, provides a vivid, original, contemporary description of key events some of which he witnessed first-hand, some of which he was told by the key people involved with whom Waurin had a personal relationship.
