The Chronicle of Geoffrey le Baker of Swinbroke. Baker was a secular clerk from Swinbroke, now Swinbrook, an Oxfordshire village two miles east of Burford. His Chronicle describes the events of the period 1303-1356: Gaveston, Bannockburn, Boroughbridge, the murder of King Edward II, the Scottish Wars, Sluys, Crécy, the Black Death, Winchelsea and Poitiers. To quote Herbert Bruce 'it possesses a vigorous and characteristic style, and its value for particular events between 1303 and 1356 has been recognised by its editor and by subsequent writers'. The book provides remarkable detail about the events it describes. Baker's text has been augmented with hundreds of notes, including extracts from other contemporary chronicles, such as the Annales Londonienses, Annales Paulini, Murimuth, Lanercost, Avesbury, Guisborough and Froissart to enrich the reader's understanding. The translation takes as its source the 'Chronicon Galfridi le Baker de Swynebroke' published in 1889, edited by Edward Maunde Thompson. Available at Amazon in eBook and Paperback.

He a great x 5 grandson of King Charles II of England Scotland and Ireland.
On 13th December 1886 Helen Gordon-Lennox Duchess Northumberland was born to Charles Gordon-Lennox 7th Duke Richmond (age 40) and Isabel Sophie Craven (age 23).
On 20th November 1887 [her mother] Isabel Sophie Craven (age 24) died.

She the daughter of Charles Gordon-Lennox 7th Duke Richmond (age 65) and Isabel Sophie Craven. He the son of Henry George Percy 7th Duke Northumberland (age 65) and Edith Campbell Duchess Northumberland (age 62). They were fifth cousins.
On 15th July 1912 [her son] Henry George Alan Percy 9th Duke Northumberland was born to [her husband] Alan Ian Percy 8th Duke Northumberland (age 32) and Helen Gordon-Lennox Duchess Northumberland (age 25).

30th August 1912. The Morpeth Herald 30/08/1912 reports:
Earl Percy's Heir Christened In London.
[her son] Lord Warkworth, the infant son of [her husband] Earl (age 32) and Countess Percy (age 25), was christened at St. Peter's, Eton Square, London, on Saturday morning. At the time of the service there were not a dozen people in the church, which was entirely devoid of special decoration, and the service itself was of the simplest possible description. The King, who had graciously consented to act sponsor, was represented by the [her father-in-law] Duke of Northumberland (age 66), the other god father, on whose right hand stood Earl Percy. Others present included Countess Percy and [her aunt] Lady Caroline Gordon Lennox (age 67). Prebendary Storrs. vicar the parish, officiated, and Lord Warkworth, who raised no protest when water fell upon his forehead, was given the names of Henry George Alan Percy.
On 6th April 1914 [her son] Hugh Algernon Percy 10th Duke Northumberland was born to [her husband] Alan Ian Percy 8th Duke Northumberland (age 33) and Helen Gordon-Lennox Duchess Northumberland (age 27).

On 25th May 1916 [her daughter] Elizabeth Ivy Percy was born to [her husband] Alan Ian Percy 8th Duke Northumberland (age 36) and Helen Gordon-Lennox Duchess Northumberland (age 29).
On 23rd November 1917 [her daughter] Diana Evelyn Percy Duchess of Sutherland was born to [her husband] Alan Ian Percy 8th Duke Northumberland (age 37) and Helen Gordon-Lennox Duchess Northumberland (age 30).
On 14th May 1918 [her father-in-law] Henry George Percy 7th Duke Northumberland (age 71) died. He was buried at the Church of St Mary the Virgin, Lesbury [Map]. His son [her husband] Alan (age 38) succeeded 8th Duke Northumberland, 5th Earl Beverley, 11th Baronet Smithson of Stanwick in Yorkshire. On 11th February 1921 [her son] Richard Charles Percy was born to [her husband] Alan Ian Percy 8th Duke Northumberland (age 40) and Helen Gordon-Lennox Duchess Northumberland (age 34).
On 8th July 1925 [her son] Geoffrey William Percy was born to [her husband] Alan Ian Percy 8th Duke Northumberland (age 45) and Helen Gordon-Lennox Duchess Northumberland (age 38).
On 18th January 1928 [her father] Charles Gordon-Lennox 7th Duke Richmond (age 82) died. His son [her half-brother] Charles (age 57) succeeded 8th Duke Richmond, 3rd Duke Gordon, 8th Earl March, 8th Baron Settrington. Hilda Madeline Brassey Duchess Richmond (age 55) by marriage Duchess Richmond, Duchess Gordon.

On 29th April 1939 [her son-in-law] John Sutherland Egerton 6th Duke Sutherland (age 23) and [her daughter] Diana Evelyn Percy Duchess of Sutherland (age 21) were married. She the daughter of [her former husband] Alan Ian Percy 8th Duke Northumberland and Helen Gordon-Lennox Duchess Northumberland (age 52). He the son of John Francis Granville Scrope Egerton 4th Earl Ellesmere (age 66) and Violet Lambton Countess Ellesmere (age 58). They were fourth cousins.
On 21st May 1940 [her son] Henry George Alan Percy 9th Duke Northumberland (age 27) was killed in action at Pecq in Belgium, serving with the 3rd Battalion Grenadier Guards, in a brave charge against overwhelming odds that was described as suicidal. His body is interred in the Esquelmes War Cemetery. His brother [her son] Hugh (age 26) succeeded 10th Duke Northumberland, 7th Earl Beverley, 13th Baronet Smithson of Stanwick in Yorkshire.
On 12th June 1946 [her son] Hugh Algernon Percy 10th Duke Northumberland (age 32) and [her daughter-in-law] Elizabeth Diana Montagu-Douglas-Scott Duchess Northumberland (age 24) were married. She by marriage Duchess Northumberland. She the daughter of Walter Scott 8th Duke Buccleuch 10th Duke Queensberry (age 51) and Vreda Lascelles Duchess Buccleuch and Queensbury (age 45). He the son of [her former husband] Alan Ian Percy 8th Duke Northumberland and Helen Gordon-Lennox Duchess Northumberland (age 59). They were fourth cousins.
