Before 01 May 956 St Asaph was appointed Bishop of St Asaph.
In 1143 Bishop Gilbert was consecrated Bishop of St Asaph by Archbishop Baldwin Avigo (age 18).
On 05 Jan 1268 Bishop Ainan II, Prior of Rhuddlan Friary [Map], was elected Bishop of St Asaph.
In 1282 St Asaph Cathedral was burned down by the troops of King Edward "Longshanks" I of England (age 42).
In 1293 Bishop Ainan II died. Tomb, possibly Cenotaph, at St Asaph Cathedral.
Bishop Ainan II: On 05 Jan 1268 Bishop Ainan II, Prior of Rhuddlan Friary, was elected Bishop of St Asaph. On 21 Oct 1268 Bishop Ainan II was consecrated at Southwark Cathedral by Archbishop Boniface Savoy (age 61) and Bishop Walter Branscombe (age 48).
Around 1350. Slab. Found under a floor tile in the Chancel of St Asaph Cathedral. It bear a shield with a lion and fleur-de-lys, a sword passing diagonally beneath, and a hound chasing a hare.
In 1402 St Asaph Cathedral was burned down by the troops of Owen Glendower (age 43).
On 13 Oct 1471 Bishop Richard Redman was consecrated Bishop of St Asaph.
On 06 Jul 1518 Bishop Henry Standish (age 43) was consecrated as Bishop of St Asaph by Archbishop William Warham (age 68) assisted by Bishop Robert Sherbourne (age 65) and Bishop John Young (age 55) (suffragan).
In 1536 Bishop William Barlow (age 38) was consecrated Bishop of St Asaph.
On 08 Jun 1536 Bishop Robert Parfew aka Warton was elected Bishop of St Asaph.
On 18 Aug 1629 Bishop John Owen (age 49) was elected Bishop of St Asaph.
In 1651 Bishop John Owen (age 71) died. He was buried at St Asaph Cathedral.

Evelyn's Diary. 31 Oct 1680. I spent this whole day in exercises. A stranger preached at Whitehall [Map] on Luke xvi. 30, 31. I then went to St. Martin's [Map], where the Bishop of St. Asaph (age 53) [Note. The next post refers to Bishop William Lloyd (age 53) being made Bishop of St Asaph. The previous incumbent Isaac Barrow had died 24 Jun 1680] preached on 1 Peter iii. 15; the Holy Communion followed, at which I participated, humbly imploring God's assistance in the great work I was entering into. In the afternoon, I heard Dr. Sprat (age 45), at St. Margaret's [Map], on Acts xvii. 11.
Evelyn's Diary. 31 Oct 1680. I began and spent the whole week in examining my life, begging pardon for my faults, assistance and blessing for the future, that I might, in some sort, be prepared for the time that now drew near, and not have the great work to begin, when one can work no longer. The Lord Jesus help and assist me! I therefore stirred little abroad till the 5th of November, when I heard Dr. Tenison (age 44), the now vicar of St. Martin's [Map]; Dr. Lloyd (age 53), the former incumbent, being made Bishop of St. Asaph.

On 10 Mar 1829 Henry Peyto Verney 24th Baron Latimer 16th Baron Willoughby (age 55) and Margaret Williams (age 30) were married at St Asaph Cathedral. The difference in their ages was 25 years.

In 12 Mar 1830 Bishop William Carey (age 60) was elected Bishop of St Asaph.
On 09 Oct 1830 John Williams 1st Baronet (age 68) died. Memorial at St Asaph Cathedral sculpted by Richard Westmacott (age 55). His son John Hay-Williams 2nd Baronet (age 36) succeeded 2nd Baronet Williams of Bodelwyddan in Flintshire.
John Williams 1st Baronet: On 22 Dec 1761 he was born. On 21 Oct 1791 John Williams 1st Baronet (age 29) and Margaret Williams Lady Williams (age 23) were married. On 27 Jul 1798 John Williams 1st Baronet (age 36) was created 1st Baronet Williams of Bodelwyddan in Flintshire. Margaret Williams Lady Williams (age 30) by marriage Lady Williams of Bodelwyddan in Flintshire.
John Hay-Williams 2nd Baronet: On 09 Jan 1794 he was born to John Williams 1st Baronet (age 32) and Margaret Williams Lady Williams (age 25). In 1842 John Hay-Williams 2nd Baronet (age 47) and Sarah Elizabeth Amherst (age 40) were married. She the daughter of William Pitt Amherst 1st Earl Amherst (age 68) and Sarah Archer Countess Plymouth and Amherst.
On 06 Mar 1835 Margaret Williams Lady Williams (age 66) died. Memorial at St Asaph Cathedral sculpted by Richard Westmacott (age 59).

On 13 Sep 1846 Bishop William Carey (age 76) died at his home in Portland Place, Marylebone. He was buried at St Asaph Cathedral where he has a memoral.

On 10 Sep 1859 John Hay-Williams 2nd Baronet (age 65) died. Memorial at St Asaph Cathedral signed in Greek by L Droses of Athens, 1873. His brother Hugh Williams 3rd Baronet (age 57) succeeded 3rd Baronet Williams of Bodelwyddan in Flintshire.
Hugh Williams 3rd Baronet: On 08 Jan 1802 he was born to John Williams 1st Baronet (age 40) and Margaret Williams Lady Williams (age 33). On 16 May 1843 Hugh Williams 3rd Baronet (age 41) and Henrietta Charlotte Williams-Wynn (age 24) were married. She a great x 5 granddaughter of King James II of England Scotland and Ireland. On 10 May 1876 Hugh Williams 3rd Baronet (age 74) died. His son William Grenville Williams 4th Baronet (age 31) succeeded 4th Baronet Williams of Bodelwyddan in Flintshire.
Between 1867 and 1875 St Asaph Cathedral was subject to restoration by George Gilbert Scott (age 55).
After 28 Jun 1867. St Asaph Cathedral. In memory of Charles Whiteman Thomas. Captain H. M. 21 at Hussars. Only son of Honoratius Leigh Thomas and Sophia Boydell his wife Of Bryn Elwy Flintshire, in this Parish; who died at in India, 28th June 1807, In the 27th year of his age.
On 26 Jan 1886 Henry Powell Ffoulkes (age 71) died. He was buried at St Asaph Cathedral where he has a memorial.
Henry Powell Ffoulkes: On 02 Jan 1815 he was born. In 1839 Henry Powell Ffoulkes (age 23) was ordained deacon and priest by Bishop William Carey (age 69). In 1861 Henry Powell Ffoulkes (age 45) was appointed Archdeacon of Montgomery and Residentiary Canon of St Asaph. In 1879 Henry Powell Ffoulkes (age 63) was appointed Rector of St John the Baptist Church, Whittington.

After 04 May 1917. St Asaph Cathedral. Memorial to Major Henry Leigh Bibby who drowned when HMT Translyvania was sunk by the enemy.
The liner Transylvania was completed just before the outbreak of the First World War and was to have served the Anchor Line, which was a subsidiary of the Cunard Line.
Transylvania was taken over for service as a troop transport on completion and the Admiralty fixed her capacity at 200 officers and 2,860 men plus her crew.
On 3 May 1917 she left Marseilles for Alexandria with an escort of two Japanese destroyers, the Matsu and the Sakaki.
At 10 am on the 4th the Transylvania was struck in the port engine room by a torpedo from a German submarine the U-63 whilst on a zig-zag course at a speed of 14 knots. At the time she was South of Cape Vado in the Gulf of Genoa.
Transylvania at once headed for the land only two miles distant.
The Matsu came alongside to take off the troops, whilst the Sakaki manouvered to keep the submarine submerged. Twenty minutes later a second torpedo was seen coming straight for the destroyer alongside, which saved herself by going astern at full speed. The torpedo then struck the Transylvania and she sank very quickly, less than an hour having elapsed since she was first hit.
There were many acts of gallantry. Maj Thomas Hubert Barclay of the 1/1st Surrey Yeomanry died from exhaustion after saving many lives.
