On 3rd August 1776 Clotworthy Upton 1st Baron Templetown [aged 55] was created 1st Baron Templetown of Templetown in Antrim.
On 16th April 1785 Clotworthy Upton 1st Baron Templetown [aged 64] died. His son John [aged 13] succeeded 2nd Baron Templetown of Templetown in Antrim.
On 7th October 1796 John Upton 2nd Baron Templetown [aged 24] and Mary Montagu Viscountess Templetown [aged 22] were married. She by marriage Baroness Templetown of Templetown in Antrim. She the daughter of John Montagu 5th Earl Sandwich [aged 52] and Maria Henrietta Powlett.
