In 1536, two weeks after the execution of Anne Boleyn, her brother George and four others, Lancelot du Carle, wrote an extraordinary letter that described Anne's life, and her trial and execution, to which he was a witness. On 13th July 1716 Humphrey Briggs 4th Baronet [aged 46] was elected MP Much Wenlock at a by-election. He was returned in the 1722 General Election. He stood down in 1727.
