On 25th September 1703 Archibald Campbell 1st Duke Argyll [aged 45] died. His son John [aged 22] succeeded 2nd Duke Argyll. Mary Duncombe Duchess of Argyll [aged 18] by marriage Duchess Argyll.

On 6th June 1717 John Campbell 2nd Duke Argyll [aged 36] and Jane Warburton Duchess of Argyll were married. She by marriage Duchess Argyll. They had four daughters. He the son of Archibald Campbell 1st Duke Argyll and Elizabeth Tollemache Duchess Argyll [aged 57].

On 9th November 1770 John Campbell 4th Duke Argyll [aged 77] died. His son John [aged 47] succeeded 5th Duke Argyll. Elizabeth Gunning Duchess Hamilton and Argyll [aged 36] by marriage Countess Argyll.

On 24th May 1806 John Campbell 5th Duke Argyll [aged 82] died. His son George [aged 37] succeeded 6th Duke Argyll.

On 29th November 1810, a month after her divorce, George William Campbell 6th Duke Argyll [aged 42] and Caroline Elizabeth Villiers Duchess Argyll [aged 35] were married at Canongate Kirk. She by marriage Duchess Argyll. She the daughter of George Bussy Villiers 4th Earl Jersey and Frances Twysden [aged 57]. He the son of John Campbell 5th Duke Argyll and Elizabeth Gunning Duchess Hamilton and Argyll.

On 22nd October 1839 George William Campbell 6th Duke Argyll [aged 71] died. His brother John [aged 61] succeeded 7th Duke Argyll, 4th Baron Hamilton of Hameldon in Leicestershire.

In 1881 George Douglas Campbell 8th Duke Argyll [aged 57] and Amelia Maria Claughton Duchess Argyll [aged 38] were married. She by marriage Duchess Argyll. She the daughter of Bishop Thomas Legh Claughton [aged 72]. He the son of John Douglas Edward Henry Campbell 7th Duke Argyll and Joan Glassel.

On 2nd May 1914 John Campbell 9th Duke Argyll [aged 68] died at Cowes, Isle of Wight. His nephew Niall [aged 42] succeeded 10th Duke Argyll, 7th Baron Hamilton of Hameldon in Leicestershire.

On 20th August 1949 Niall Campbell 10th Duke Argyll [aged 77] died. His first cousin once removed Ian [aged 46] succeeded 11th Duke Argyll, 8th Baron Hamilton of Hameldon in Leicestershire. Louise Clews Duchess of Argyll [aged 44] by marriage Duchess Argyll.

On 22nd March 1951 Ian Campbell 11th Duke of Argyll [aged 47] and Margaret Whigham Duchess of Argyll [aged 38] were married. His third marriage, her second. She by marriage Duchess Argyll.

In 1964 Ian Campbell 12th Duke of Argyll [aged 26] and Iona Colquhoun Duchess of Argyll [aged 18] were married. She by marriage Duchess Argyll. He the son of Ian Campbell 11th Duke of Argyll [aged 60] and Louise Clews Duchess of Argyll [aged 59].

On 7th April 1973 Ian Campbell 11th Duke of Argyll [aged 69] died. His son Ian [aged 35] succeeded 12th Duke Argyll, 9th Baron Hamilton of Hameldon in Leicestershire.

On 21st April 2001 Ian Campbell 12th Duke of Argyll [aged 63] died. His son Torquhil [aged 32] succeeded 13th Duke Argyll, 10th Baron Hamilton of Hameldon in Leicestershire.
