On 22nd February 1820 Alexander Leslie-Melville 7th Earl of Leven 6th Earl of Melville [aged 70] died. His son David [aged 35] succeeded 8th Earl Leven, 7th Earl Melville.
In 1860 David Leslie-Melville 8th Earl of Leven 7th Earl Melville [aged 75] died. His brother John [aged 73] succeeded 9th Earl Leven, 8th Earl Melville.
On 16th September 1876 John Leslie-Melville 9th Earl of Leven 8th Earl Melville [aged 89] died. His son Alexander [aged 59] succeeded 10th Earl Leven, 9th Earl Melville.
On 22nd October 1889 Alexander Leslie-Melville 10th Earl of Leven 9th Earl of Melville [aged 72] died. His half brother Ronald [aged 53] succeeded 11th Earl Leven, 10th Earl Melville. Emma Selina Portman Countess of Leveln and Melville [aged 26] by marriage Countess Leven and Countess Melville.
On 21st August 1906 Ronald Leslie-Melville 11th Earl of Leven 10th Earl of Melville [aged 70] died. His son John [aged 20] succeeded 12th Earl Leven, 11th Earl Melville.

In 1536, two weeks after the execution of Anne Boleyn, her brother George and four others, Lancelot du Carle, wrote an extraordinary letter that described Anne's life, and her trial and execution, to which he was a witness.
