Before 1168 Bishop Simon de Tosny was appointed Abbot of Coggeshall.
In 1171 Bishop Simon de Tosny was appointed Bishop of Moray.

Dreadful crashes of thunder were heard, and strange flashes of lightning were seen in the night of the Lord's Nativity throughout all England and Normandy. The ordination of Lord Simon1, bishop of Moray, on the tenth day before the Kalends of February [23rd January], formerly abbot of Coggeshall.
