The London Gazette 32898. Whitehall, January 15, 1924. Letters Patent have passed the Great Seal of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland conferring the dignity of a Baron of the said United Kingdom upon the Eight Honourable Sir Charles John Darling [aged 74], Knight, and the heirs male of his body lawfully begotten, by the name, style and title of Baron Darling, of Langham, in the county of Essex.

On 29th May 1936 Charles John Darling 1st Baron Darling [aged 86] died. His grandson Robert [aged 17] succeeded 2nd Baron Darling of Langham in Essex.

On 15th August 1942 Robert Charles Darling 2nd Baron Darling [aged 23] and Bridget Rosemary Whishaw Dickson Baroness Darling [aged 24] were married. She by marriage Baroness Darling of Langham in Essex. His mother Eleanor Joan Martin Powell would, in 1945, marry her father Reverend Frances Cyprian Dickson of Emery Down in Hampshire.

On 16th October 2003 Robert Charles Darling 2nd Baron Darling [aged 84] died. His son Robert [aged 59] succeeded 3rd Baron Darling of Langham in Essex.
