01 Feb 1452. Grant to Edmund, earl of Richemond (age 21), the king’s uterine brother, in tail male, of the remainder of the third part of the manor of Ludford, co. Lincoln, which Jacquetta, [dowager]duchess of Bedford (age 37), holds in dower for life of the inheritance of John, duke of Bedford, sometime her husband; grant also to him in tail male of the remaining two parts thereof from Michaelmas last. 01 May 1452. Grant to Edmund, earl of Richemond (age 21), and Jasper, earl of Pembroke (age 20), and their heirs, of the manor and lordship of Hide, co. Hertford, with a messuage called "Hide,” 100 acres of land, 2 acres of meadow and 20 acres of wood in Langley Abbots, co. Hertford, worth 62s. 6d. a year, and of the manor and lordship of Bondby, co. Lincoln, worth 101. 12d., and of all appurtenant rents, services, customs, waters, knights’ fees, patronages, advowsons, and profits ; in lieu of a grant thereof to the same for a term of twelve years at the usual rent by letters patent dated 28 March last, surrendered. Grant to the king’s uterine brother, Jasper de Hathfelde (age 21), earl of Pembroke, and his heirs, of all the manors, castles, lordships, lands, hundreds, "weynes,” franchises, courts, markets, with all knights’ fees, advowsons, patronages, "wayves," views of frankpledge, wards, marriages, reliefs, escheats, rents, services and reversions, which William Oldehall, knight, or any other to his use held on, from or before the day of his outlawry for treason and felony or at any other time. Surrey, with all appurtenances; in lieu of a grant to him and Edmund, earl of Richemurd, of the lordship snd manor of Whitley for twelve years by letters patent dated 28 March last, surrendered. Hertford, with all their appurtenances; in lieu of a grant of the keeping of the said messuage and land to Bartholomew Halley, esquire, by letters patent dated 12 July, 29 Henry VI, and a grant of the keeping of the said messuage and manors to the said earls by letters patent dated 28 March last, surrendered. Nottingham, the manor, lordship and town of Clypston in Shirewood, the castle and lordship of Horeston, the manor of Bollesouere, the office of bailiff of the wapentake of Morleyston and Lukehirch, co. Derby, the manor and Pordshi of Magour in South Wales, and 10/. a year which the abbot of Welbek renders from the farm of the mills of Retford, with all their appurtenances; in lieu of a grant to the former of the lordship and manor of Atherston, co. 08 Aug 1457. Westminster. Commission to Jasper, earl of Pembroke (age 25), James, earl of Wiltshire (age 36), Ralph de Sudeley (age 68), knight, John Beauchamp of Powyk (age 48), knight, and the sheriff of Gloucester, reciting that whereas the king at the suit of Alice Veell, widow, caused writs to be directed to Thomas de la Hay, Thomas Holte, William Tyffyn, Nicholas Kyng, Maurice Kyng and Roger Clyff to appear before the king and council on a certain day to answer touching riots and offences done to her by them, and because Thomas de la Hay received his writ and the others withdrew in order that the writs should not be delivered to them, and they appeared not, the king by other writs caused proclamation to be made in London and the said county that they should appear before the council or chancellor within a month after the last day of proclamation, pursuant to the ordinance made in the Parliament held at Redyng in 31 Henry VI, which writs were duly returned by the sheriffs of London and Gloucestershire, yet they appeared not ; and appointing the said commissioners to arrest and bring them before the king in Chancery to answer touching the premises. 15 Nov 1457. Westminster. Grant in fee tail to Jasper, earl of Pembroke (age 26), and the king's serjeant, Thomas Vaghan, of a messuage called "Garlek" with a garden annexed in Brokestrete in Stebenhithe, co. Middlesex ; in lieu of a like grant thereof to Thomas by letters patent dated 30 March 31 Henry VI, surrendered. By K. etc.

14 Nov 1457. Westminster. Grant to the king's uterine brother, Jasper, earl of Pembroke (age 26), that he, his factors or deputies, may cut down for building, burning or selling 200 acres of wood by the forest perch of his wood within Shirwode forest, co. Nottingham, and licence for him to enclose the said acres for ten ycars for preservation of "le Spryng." By K. otc.

21 Apr 1457. Westminster. Grant to Richard, duke of York (age 45), in recompense of the offices of constable of the castles of Carmerdyn, Abbrestwyth and Caerkeny, his estate wherein at the king's desire he has granted to the king’s brother, Jasper, earl of Pembroke (age 25), of 40l yearly at the Receipt of the Exchequer at Westminster by the hands of the treasurer and chamberlains, until he have for life other recompense of the yearly value of 40l. or more. Grant to the king’s brother, Jasper, earl of Pembroke (age 26), and to John, earl of Shrewsbury (age 40), of the keeping of all possessions in England, Wales and the marches thereof late of Edmund, earl of Richmond, in the king’s hands by his death and the minority of Henry, his son and heir, except his possessions in Lincolnshire, to hold from his death during Henry’s minority, and so from heir to heir. Grant to Edmund de Hadham, earl of Richmond, and Jasper de Hathefeld (age 26), earl of Pembroke, the king's uterine brothers, of the keeping of all possessions in the king’s hands by the death of John, duke of Somerset, and by reason of the minority of Margaret (age 14), his daughter and heir, with the marriage of the heir, to hold during her minority, and so from heir to heir. Note. Edmund Tudor 1st Earl Richmond and Margaret Beaufort Countess Richmond (age 14) were married in 1455.

27 Feb 1459. Ratification to the king’s uterine brother, Jasper, earl of Pembroke (age 27), in tail male, of letters patent dated 27 June, 31 Henry VI, granting to him and his heirs a fee farm of £113 6s. 8d. which the heirs of Roger de Mortuo Mari, late earl of March, render for the castle and cantred of Buelt [Map], and £42. from the fee farm of Hereford, which letters are invalid because by other letters dated 12 June, 29 Henry VI, the king granted to Humphrey, duke of Buckingham, in tail male, among other things, £35. 3s. 4d. from the fee farm of Hereford by the hands of the mayor, bailiffs, burgesses, men, sheriff or other receivers from 4 July, 28 Henry VI, for fourteen years, and by other letters dated 12 February, 16 Henry VI, the king granted to John Popham, "chivaler,” then treasurer of the houschold, 100 marks yearly for life from the fee farm of the castle and cantred of Bueld from Michaelmas then last by the hands of the heirs of Roger Mortymer, late earl of March; grant also to the earl in tail male of the 70 marks residue of the said £113. 6s. 8d. beyond the 100 marks granted to the said John from the said 27 June, and of the 100 marks immediately after the decease of John, and of the residue of the fee farm of Hereford beyond the said £35 3s. 4d. granted to the duke from the said 27 June, and of the whole farm immediately after the end of the said term of fourteen ycars. Grant for life to the king's uterine brother, Jasper, earl of Pembroke (age 27), that he be quit of all fines for charters, letters patent and other writs in Chancery and other courts, and of all fees of the seal therefor in the hanaper of Chancery. so that the keeper thereof and other officers take nothing from him therefor. Grant for life to the king's uterine brother, Jasper, earl of Pembroke (age 27), of a tower in the lower end of the great hall within Westminster palace adjacent to the entry to the Receipt by "Le Steirehed,” which tower the earl has before occupied by the king’s licence, for the safe-guard and keeping of the earls evidences and for the communication and easement of the earl and his council, to hold as the queen holds the other tower at the end of the hall at the entry of the Exchequer for her and her council. 30 Oct 1459. Farnham Royal, Buckinghamshire [Map]. Commission of array to Richard Wydevyle of Ryvers (age 54), knight, and the sheriff of Kent in Kent, to resist Richard, duke of York (age 48), Edward Earl of March (age 17), Richard, Earl of Warwick (age 30), and Richard, Earl of Salisbury (age 59), and their accomplices, leagued in rebellion against the king and crown and allowed by certain persons having the keeping of the town and castle of Calais [Map] to enter the same contrary to the king's mandates, and now preparing to arouse congregations and insur rections in the said county; and appointment of the same to arrest all ships and other vessels late of the said Earl of Warwick and all the tackling thereof and to keep the same for the king's use. Broun, knight, John Fogge, Robert Home and William Hexstall, to take near Sandwich, Kent [Map] the muster of all men at arms and archers ordered to go with Henry, duke of Exeter (age 29), on the safe-keeping of the sea to resist the king's rebels and enemies, and to certify the king thereof in Chancery.

Membrane 13d. 23 May 1460. Commission to Osbert Mountford and John Baker, esquires, ordered, Coventry, by advice of the council, to bring 200 men at arms and archers to Henry, duke of Somerset (age 24), for the safe keeping and defence of the castle and town of Guysnes and to resist the king's rebels and enemies, appointing them to arrest ships and vessels necessary herein and masters and mariners therefor.
