Biography of John Coryton 1st Baronet 1621-1680

In 1585 [his father] William Coryton (age 5) and [his mother] Elizabeth Chichester were married. They had four sons and seven daughters.

On or before 29 Jul 1621 John Coryton 1st Baronet was born to William Coryton (age 41) and Elizabeth Chichester. He was baptised on 29 Jul 1621 St Mellion.

On 27 Dec 1643 John Coryton 1st Baronet (age 22) and Elizabeth Mills Lady Coryton were married. They had two sons and two daughters.

On or before 21 Jan 1648 [his son] John Coryton 2nd Baronet was born to John Coryton 1st Baronet (age 26) and [his wife] Elizabeth Mills Lady Coryton. He was baptised on 21 Jan 1648 at St Melanus' Church, St Mellion.

On or before 24 May 1650 [his son] William Coryton 3rd Baronet was born to John Coryton 1st Baronet (age 28) and [his wife] Elizabeth Mills Lady Coryton. He was baptised on 24 May 1650 at St Melanus' Church, St Mellion.

In 1651 [his father] William Coryton (age 71) died.

On 26 Jan 1657 [his mother] Elizabeth Chichester died.

In 1660 John Coryton 1st Baronet (age 38) was elected MP Callington in a by-election.

In 1661 John Coryton 1st Baronet (age 39) was elected MP Cornwall.

On 27 Feb 1662 John Coryton 1st Baronet (age 40) was created 1st Baronet Coryton of Newton. [his wife] Elizabeth Mills Lady Coryton by marriage Lady Coryton of Newton.

On 27 Sep 1667 [his wife] Elizabeth Mills Lady Coryton died. She was buried at Colebrooke Church, where her mural monument with Corinthian columns and scrollwork pediment survives.

On 22 Feb 1672 [his son] John Coryton 2nd Baronet (age 24) and [his daughter-in-law] Elizabeth Chiverton were married at St James' Church, Clerkenwell.

In Feb 1679 John Coryton 1st Baronet (age 57) was elected MP Callington.

In Aug 1679 John Coryton 1st Baronet (age 58) was elected MP Launceston.

On or after 24 May 1680, the date of the licence, John Coryton 1st Baronet (age 58) and Anne Wayte Lady Coryton were married. He died within two months of the marriage. She by marriage Lady Coryton of Newton. She, presumably widow of Mr. D. Wayte, who was buied in the church at Acton, 29 March 1677.

Before 23 Aug 1680, the date of his burial at St Melanus' Church, St Mellion, John Coryton 1st Baronet (age 59) died. His son [his son] John Coryton 2nd Baronet (age 32) succeeded 2nd Baronet Coryton of Newton.

[his daughter] Elizabeth Coryton was born to John Coryton 1st Baronet and Elizabeth Mills Lady Coryton.
