Biography of Valentine Lawless 2nd Baron Cloncurry 1773-1853
In 1761 [his father] Nicholas Lawless 1st Baron Cloncurry (age 25) and [his mother] Margaret Browne Baroness Cloncurry (age 25) were married.
On 19 Aug 1773 Valentine Lawless 2nd Baron Cloncurry was born to Nicholas Lawless 1st Baron Cloncurry (age 37) and Margaret Browne Baroness Cloncurry (age 37) at Merrion Square, Dublin in Dublin.
In 1776 [his father] Nicholas Lawless 1st Baron Cloncurry (age 40) was created 1st Baronet Lawless of Abington in Limerick. [his mother] Margaret Browne Baroness Cloncurry (age 40) by marriage Lady Lawless of Abington in Limerick.
In 1795 [his mother] Margaret Browne Baroness Cloncurry (age 59) died.
In Jun 1798 Valentine Lawless 2nd Baron Cloncurry (age 24) was imprisoned on suspicion of treason in London, released, re-arrested and held in the Tower of London [Map] until March 1801.
On 28 Aug 1799 [his father] Nicholas Lawless 1st Baron Cloncurry (age 63) died. His son Valentine Lawless 2nd Baron Cloncurry (age 26) succeeded 2nd Baron Cloncurry of Cloncurry in Limerick, 2nd Baronet Lawless of Abington in Limerick.
In 1803 Valentine Lawless 2nd Baron Cloncurry (age 29) and Elizabeth Georgiana Morgan were married at Rome, Italy.
In 1807 Valentine Lawless 2nd Baron Cloncurry (age 33) brought an action for criminal conversation against John Bennett Piers 6th Baronet (age 35) whose dalliance with Lady Cloncurry had been witnessed by the painter Gaspare Gabrielli while he was at work painting frescoes at Lyons House. Piers did not contest the action. Lawless was awarded the then enormous sum of £20,000 in damages. He obtained a divorce from his wife in 1811 by Act of Parliament.
On 28 Oct 1853 Valentine Lawless 2nd Baron Cloncurry (age 80) died.
